A Glaring Concern…..

it is not a coincidence that this Griz team doesn’t put anybody away. The only game where we saw them step on someone’s throat was Indiana State.

If you look at Sacred Heart, Weber, and now EWU:

- the Griz jump out to almost easy and effortless huge 3-score leads in the first quarter or by early in the second quarter
- Then Bobby and Pease and Company go completely vanilla with the playbook and start rotating even more two and threes
- we start lacking focus and playing with any urgency
- Then when the other team gets back in the game and we need to turn the “juice” back on, this team is having a hard time doing that. It’s proving difficult to just flip that switch

I think all of us wish Bobby and Company would just keep the pedal to the metal, but for some reason he hasn’t. Personally, I think it’s because we don’t have a bye week. He’s trying to rest players maybe more than he even should. I think he has that confidence that his team will win even if the team gets back in the game a little bit. I guess so far he has been correct there, but that almost blew up on him yesterday.

My armchair QB says…..blow them the fuck away then get some guys in when you’re up 35 in the 4th. 🤷‍♂️

That’s exactly what it is. He’s overcompensating for no bye week. We’ve rotated in previous seasons but not to this extreme.
Or he's using analytics to determine the best time to rotate players and that appears to look like "overcompensating". I have no knowledge if the Griz are using this but other teams, including a lot of NFL teams, use data from wearable health monitors to monitor players' health during the game.

A good team with an All American running back should be able to go vanilla and get some production against mediocre teams. If not "dominate"....at least get a couple first downs in the last 20 minutes of the damn game.

I don’t recall seeing Jensen or Flowers or Fonoti getting many reps yesterday.

Bobby doesn't use analytics or believe in them. Bobby has always liked to rotate, particular on defense. In my view, it's not luck or a coincidence that ultimately the Griz have prevailed in every game. I too wish we dominated every game or more games from start to finish, but that almost never happens with any team. The goal is to keep winning and improving.

The QB's don't rotate and haven't all season. It appears that Fonoti is now the 3d back. UM had 22 rushes (excluding fake punt) on 53 plays. Only 20 by rb's including Wortham (4). 53 is very few plays. That was a problem. Credit to EWU D too. Bobby said EWU had a good gameplan. Note who the OL coach is for EWu.

Please. Bobby doesn’t use analytics. In his own words “analytics are for guys who can’t coach”.

I stand corrected. Thanks!

Unknowledgable stupid question i know....but...if the offfense were more productive with their all American running back, top rated QB and an OL many knowledgeable fans seem to think is good, and got more than a couple first downs in the last 20 minutes against a mediocre statistic defense, would they have had more than 53 plays?
