Somewhere between "absolute panic" and `"The Griz are 10-0!!" lies the truth, as always in the middle. And Brint has done an excellent job of handing out kudos where appropriate while not glossing over this team's obvious deficiencies.
This is as concise, well-written and fully documented a version of the truth as I have seen on this board all year.
My concern is that in a year that we have some of the greatest playmakers ever to don Griz uniforms--certainly Eli Gillman and Michael Wortham, with Ah Yat growing into a major force--our defense remains highly suspect, the secondary as porous as I've ever seen.
Didn't take much for an opposing coach to look at the tapes and say, "We're throwing sixty times." It's a miracle we escaped yesterday.
Can this be fixed? In one game? In Portland? Before the Big Dawgs come visiting?
I remain hopeful but skeptical. The main hope now is that this offense becomes unstoppable, as in Q1 yesterday, and not Q's 2,3 and 4. Time for Brent Pease to show his greatest chops, to make his mark at Montana.
