Out-Coached

1983 Griz

Well-known member
Aaron Best and his staff came into the "Mecca of FCS Football" yesterday and schooled Bobby and crew. A freshman quarterback threw for 451 yards against our porous pass defense. Our offense went missing after the first quarter with piss-poor play calling. We were outgained 479 to 351 in total yards. The Griz did not deserve to win that game and only did so because the Eagles' quarterback inexplicably muffed the last play of the game. This is the same team that the Bobcats beat 57-3. Barnum and Vigen will be licking their chops after reviewing the film from that game.

Our defense always seemed to be out of position and continued to give up passes underneath as our corners were consistently 10 yards off the line of scrimage. Pease running the "hey diddle, up the middle" on every first down in the second half when the Eagles and everyone in the stadium knew it was coming was beyond frustrating. Our special teams "guru" was caught with his pants down when the Eagles kicker recovered his own onsides kick. We were out coached in every facet of the game.

Not good enough, Bobby. Not good enough.

P.S. Queue Hoops and all the sugar-coaters.

I thought the Griz won the game. Doesn’t Bobby get credit for that?

Nope. Not even close. Undefeated after ten games and all you can do is whine. Gimme a break.
Undefeated because the EWU QB finally made a mistake with 6 seconds left. But holy hell, dude. When Pease goes stone cold and gets predictable in the cat game, combined with a defense that can’t cover a sneeze, it’s going to be a long and embarrassing day.

The worst passing offenses in the conference have passed for dang near 800 yards. Everyone knows which routes are gimmies and it seems like nothing is done schematically to take that away. This pass D ranks 117th nationally. Dead last in the Big Sky. Think about that. Anyone with a pulse can get madden numbers.

If this keeps up, which it seems like it will, Griz are going to get destroyed by the cats and one and done in the playoffs.

Actually, it WAS good enough. Griz won the game. Should've never got to the point it did, but we walked away 10-0, which, of course is different than MOST div 1 teams across the country. Now, we all dont have to belabor the issues if yesterday because we most certainly know the panican griz fans will do so exhaustively.

GO GRIZ 💪💪

The EWU QB made more than one mistake. But whatever. Was it a stellar UM performance? Of course not. Take the W. Keep figuring out how to win when you encounter adversity. 10-0. My glass is 3/4 full.

Is it being a “panican Griz fan” to point out that the Griz pass defense is last in the big sky and 117/126 in the entire FCS? In most all defensive statistical categories the Griz are pretty far removed from the top 25. It’s not being a “panican” to point out statistical facts right?

Funny I came away thinking the opposite. Thought best made some real odd decisions, especially in the red zone. You would have thought his team was down 40 the way he was calling the game. Thought it was odd and thought he got way out coached

What are they ranked in run defense? They threw the ball 65 times yesterday, and scored 24 points. Not hardly a juggernaut performance. But panicans will only point out the pass defense stats.

You are clueless. The Griz won the game and deserved to win. Was Best schooling UM when UM was up 22-0 early. Are you saying that qb wasn’t any good? That his receivers couldn’t catch and hold onto the ball? Yes, it was good enough. Griz won. 10-0.

Did you know that the player assigned to get that kick in that particular type of onside kick didn’t do his assignment?

How much do you want to bet on the Cat game?

Look at conference red zone D and report back. Look at sacks especially in recent games. Look at interceptions. Look at the high quality of tackling. Except one play near goal line. Ya, gave up too many 3d downs and other fights for ball. That needs to be better.

Do you think defense has only one stat?

How many teams in the conference and nation are 10-0, and ranked at the top in the polls.
