Depth at Position Will Cost a Team the Natty

It is evident that you must have quality backups and not just depend on one or two people at key positions. Hard to accomplish ? Yes ! I am not just referring to the Griz, but also the better teams in the FCS as well. It seems Eastern Washington has a pretty good depth at quarterback. Maybe they have more things figured out than we give them credit for. Recruiting quality players is the key.

Bobby and staff have done a good job recruiting quality players.

Maybe, but there is little depth at the CB position. Unusual for the FCS? Probably not, but I am witnessing two years in a row of a suspect defense in a scheme that is also debatable. Ronnie B is gone and man does it show. The numbers don’t lie. Statically the Griz are not good on defense. They hopefully get some guys back in time for the brawl. The one thing the Griz did yesterday that was exceptional - hit hard. They knocked the snot out of EWU players. Also, Dietrich. Breakout game? Hope so, he put the heat on. Weird game due to so much passing for EWU. Best isn’t dumb. He took what was given. Pease fell asleep apparently.

Our coaching staff will take care of costing us a Natty
I've actually been semi impressed with the coaches this year. I think Brent Pease is borderline incompetent but with the grown of KAY, the skills of Wortham and the dominance of Gilman the offense is close to unstoppable. The defense they run is notoriously hard to learn and lends itself better to players learning it while developing in the system. It's a difficult system to bring lots of new guys up to speed in. So kudos to T Hauck and Cooper for managing to put a pretty damn good defense out there week to week.

...with some weeks weaker than other weeks...
