Will South Dakota State Make the Playoffs?

They have to beat UND or Illinois State I am leaning toward no which is too bad because I was hoping they could figure out a way to get to Bozeman for the first round with Mason back.

  • UND has reason to be motivated: their playoff chances and seedings depend on performing well in big games.
  • Historically, in rivalry‐type games (like the one between North Dakota State Bison and SDSU, called the Dakota Marker), SDSU has faced challenges when the opponent is well-set and hungry.

They started Q3, a redshirt freshman. Marble, the Q2, was dressed but never entered the game. Mason was in street clothes ... looking like he's done for the year.
For the best with Marble. ISU should have had 3 more interceptions in their game but they just dropped them.

If Mason is done for the year SDSU is not winning another game and won’t deserve to make the playoffs finishing 0-5.

They’re really up against it now. The cat win could strengthen their resume and get them in at 7-5, but a 5 game losing streak going into the playoffs would be a really bad look.

The playoff committee loves mid MVFC teams there was a 6-5 UNI team that got in but finishing with 5 straight losses and still making it in is pathetic.

On the other hand, even one win – they get Illinois State at home – would put them at 8-4, and I think that would still get them in.
Without Chase Mason I just don’t see it happening. Illinois State is solid they are no Murray State.

Key injuries hurt them. They’re 7-3 but if they don’t get their qb back they have no chance. Even if they get him back it’s not like they’ll be rolling on all cylinders.

They will if they get Mason back, and he's not playing less than 100%.

If not, I really do think they lose the last 2 and are outside looking in.

I think they're done this season and I can sympathize with injuries derailing what was supposed to be a great year for your team. It happened to Utah last year and it sucked to watch.
