Hey, look at us - Cats are dominating the Big Sky and FCS (say some Cat fans)

Yes, if the Cat are 8-3 coming into Missoula, that will hurt our SOS for the playoffs after we beat the Cats. That worries me. We need a no. 2 seed.
You don’t have to worry about that. We will beat Davis bad.

Why don’t we bet $100 on Cats/Davis straight up? Then when I win we can go double or nothing on Cat/Griz straight up?

You’re a great fan Mr Manning but I don’t think even YOU believe Davis will win Saturday night. If you do it’s a win win for you!

Why does the supposedly good Cat D and very good Cat DL, have only 14 sacks this season? Tied for 9th in the conference. I see Lamson was sacked twice today, on only 17 passes, and the Cat OL gave up another sack, for 3 total. Wasn't looking for any of this, but saw it. And speaking of sacks, I see the Cats have given up 21, compared other UM's 16.

I wouldn’t be so confident. Davis is no Mercyhurst. They have some great players in the trenches including some coming back from injury. UC Davis will be ready too they know this game is the difference between them having a top 4 seed and having to play in the first round of the playoffs. UC Davis is also well coached and disciplined they do not shoot themselves in the foot with penalties and turnovers.

If you want my honest opinion, and you can totally call me a pessimist, but after today and watching the last several weeks, I really think the road Brawl curse is going to end.

If we don't figure something out, I fear we're going to lose by several scores.

I don't know who will win Davis v. Cats, but I'm concerned for the Cats. Those are 2 different things.

Why does the Cat DL and D have so few sacks? 14 is pretty weak. None today.

For someone that claims to know the game you're either being disegeuois or you don't know as much as you think. The cats play a 4-2 and a base front. The lb's essentially play assigned gaps. The DB's play a lot of man. They don't run a lot of CB/S, LB blitzes or even twists. Hence it's not the same disruptive style the griz play. They prioritize containment. The cats are the number one defence in conference in ypg and ppg by a long shot. You can cherry pick other things like sacks but the bottom line is points allowed. I suspect you know this but just like to blow smoke to confuse people that don't know any better for the sake of argument.

I get it 5280. Davis is no Idaho State or Eastern Washington either. They’re no Cal Poly.

But I like our chances. A lot.

UND is solid on oline and defense but their qb and special teams are terrible. Opposite of the Griz which have excellent qb and special teams.

Selective facts are lies by omission. Gregorak compared the Cats D to the all-time great D's from the 2000's last Thursday. Colter agrees. Gregorak coached the Griz under Hauck for 7 years. Before you go after him, he coached Tyler Corwin, Brandon Fisher, Shawn Lebsock, Tyler Joyce (ranked second in UM history with 356 career tackles), Shane MacIntyre, Kyle Ryan, and Loren Utterback - Big Sky Conference picks. (Not my work, found in an article). He told Colter this is the best D the BSC has seen in a long, long time. He too mentioned not a lot of sacks, but the best Dbacks and Safties in the conference, so they don't have to blitz. He said something like - if you don't have to blitz, don't blitz. So instead of cherry picking a couple of stats that don't tell the story look at the current BSC stats, or better yet compare BSC common opponents. I'm not saying the Griz are bad, I'm saying the stats don't lie.

I truly think MSU and UM are the best FCS teams this year, despite what 5280 may think (I’m pretty sure Coach Chode T-bagged him every time his teams would beat the Griz). I understand the Cats record is not stellar and the loss to SDSU does not look ‘quality’ anymore. However, they have been improving each game, which is something I’m pleasantly surprised with this year.

The Griz offensively have been firing on all cylinders, some call it the ‘three headed beast’, however, when one head is lopped off they have had another emergence of another player. The defense has not been stellar, but per the 3-5-3 scheme it can be high risk, high reward and they have buckled down when it matters.

If the Cats can take care of UC Davis, and get out healthy, this could be a great Brawl. I’ll give the nod to the Griz for the homefield advantage, Washington Griz will be bumping because of implications this game has.

Me thinks from here on out, the only thing that will really sway the SOS for one team one way or the other is the OOC games. I’m sure each year there will be one more decent Big Sky team, but aside from the Montana schools the Big Sky is a quagmire of mediocrity.
For Cats and Griz, doubt that SOS will matter much. Assuming Cats get by Davis, then both teams won’t get hurt by SOS as they will either win or lose against each other and have high enough SOS. I sure wouldn’t drop loser out of top 6 of seeding. Unless there are some late goofy losses, I don’t see the loser getting a top 4 seed. So they are going to be on road to the state of ND at some point in the later rounds. A win in 2 weeks and 2 seed will be huge. Poor Bobcats. Poor Bobcats.

I’m going out on a limb and say the offense will make the difference in the cat game. Saturday is gone and going forward I know the offense can and will put up good numbers. Seriously I don’t foresee the defense on the field all day like Saturday. It’s damn shameful that some Montana fans are as so finicky as to say the Griz will be beat at home by multiple scores in Washington Grizzly Stadium after going more than likely 11-0. Good grief…

Go Griz!!

Back to the the Fargodome they will go, where all FCS dreams go to die.

It’s probably just nostalgia, but I miss the magic of the late 90’s and early 2000’s FCS Football.

Jeez, I have no agreed with you twice. Will they be trying to convince themselves that 8-3 and then 8-4 are good records?
Griz are having a great season. Won’t take anything away from the level of talent the Griz football team has. It’s been fun watching them week in and week out. Haven’t been playing their best football lately but I expect we will get their best shot and will be treated with some excellent football. Wouldn’t surprise me if the Griz win…. Wouldn’t surprise me if Cats win. Blessed to have a great rivalry in the last best place.
