Third down efficiency is killing us

That is a wild statement because this guy is a freshman unless you are expecting him to transfer at the end of season. Qb doesn’t play on defense or special teams.
That is a true statement. Why would I expect him to transfer. Did you just figure out the Qb doesn't play defense or special teams. Are you missing something?

It doesn’t matter if their quarterback is really good and the offense scores 45 points if their defense is trash and gives up 46 points.

Is EWU coming into this game ranked last on third down and converting fairly easy against UM a bad sign for our defense or is it because EWU freshman qb is a lot better than who they have had earlier in the season? I have not watched EWU at all before today just followed the box scores which doesn’t tell the whole story.
Didn't they play a different, and at least in this game, very tough and good qb? That makes or can make a difference.

It had nothing to do with third down. It was all about first down. If we would have had 100 first down plays, Gilman would have had 100 yards. Pathetic play calling on first. And the coaches know it.
Yes, it had alot to do with 3d down. Bobby said so in his interview. And yes, later in the game, the Griz didn't do well on first down, which contributed to not picking up 3d downs. But it is completely wrong to say that it had nothing to do with 3d. That's wrong and silly.

The part that maddens me the most is that this was easily the best game our pass rush has had. 8 sacks, 12 TFL’s, who knows how many hurries, etc. but because our secondary was so inept it really didn’t matter how much pressure we put on the QB. Yes we have injuries in the secondary, but you cannot be this bad, especially when the DL and LB’s are getting in the backfield more than they have all year.

Give credit where credit is due though. I would’ve thought with how much we were roughing the kid up that he would’ve started to get rattled and falter, but he never did. It was actually quite impressive. We gotta get guys in the secondary healthy ASAP. The struggle was real today.

Eastern is not that good. We're just playing like absolute crap.
I said they were good and big ON THIRD DOWN. Note my full sentence. And, for the record, the Griz didn't play like absolute crap. The O was very good when we went up 22-0. The D was strong in the 2d half and especially the 4th Q when they got no help from the O, giving up only 3 points in 29 minutes and then 1 TD. That isn't playing the like crap.

Your comments are right on! I was amazed that it was his first start. He will be a good one if remains upright behind that EW line.
