Should teams be required to put players names on the back of jerseys?

Names on the back of jerseys help the fans and opposition determine who is out there. I saw in the Northwestern USC game last night, USC who never has names on the back switched their backup qb’s number to be the same as their punter which fooled Northwestern. There is a separate discussion to be had that if USC has to resort to tricks like this to beat Northwestern they have fallen as much as a program as EWU.

No. And, to be clear, the number switch was made for the week, not during the game. Maybe the scouting should’ve picked that up.

Since we are in the Big Sky Conference, I would go one step further. Officials names should be required to be put on the back of their Zebra Shirts. The quality of calls should go up. Hell, the SEC got rid of a White Cap Referee after a Georgia game, permanently, for a couple of outrageous calls. Seems he had a habit of outrageous calls prior to this game.

"SEC referee Ken Williamson was reportedly "permanently suspended" from officiating by the Southeastern Conference following a series of controversial calls during the October 11, 2025, Auburn vs. Georgia football game. The suspension comes after multiple complaints and an SEC review of the game, which invalidated nine out of eleven official complaints filed."
