There are 50 other examples of players back then being far better than the limited few left in the FCS now.

Talent includes physical attributes. How many under 6 foot quarterbacks are in the hall of fame? Probably going to stay that way for a while with Russ playing himself out of the hall of fame. Carson Wentz FCS 10 years ago has a stronger arm, won more championships and has over $134m career earnings compared to $2.2m for Edwards. There likely won’t be anyone from any of the programs that left to FBS that will have anyone touch Carson’s career earnings for a long time.

These guys are so good at talent evaluation they took Brady in 6th round, they took Jamarcus Russell 1st over all. They miss far more than they make, all it takes to be a WR in the NFL is a 4.3 40. Route running, ability to catch and block be damned.

What? Brady was drafted in 2000 Russell in 2007. How do you compare that? Look now Mahommes, Allen, Burrows, Herbert, Stafford, Maye, Rodgers, Williams, Love, Jackson are all 1st round picks. You actually think that NFL teams make entire choices on players based on 40 times? They watch film on every down they have ever played in college. I would gladly buy Elrod a beer at Reds the next time I am in Missoula. Weird, but with ESPN+ you can watch a lot of poor quality teams for cheap. Especially if you have the right phone package. I haven’t watched any Mountain West games this year because that conference is so jv. Terrible football, but hey, they are FBS so it must be better right?
