If Vigen continues to win, he will get offers rom FBS teams. He has two son's playing for the Cats now, so that may delay him wanting to leave. The bottom line is, he will move on sooner or later when the right deal comes along. Any good AD, I am sure keeps a list of potential candidates in the event that happens.
Bobby has already gone thru all this and seems content to finish out his career with the Griz. Nothing wrong with that.

I spent a lot of time pumping up Choate to the locals. I was sure he would have a stiff defense and pound the rock. A formula that would give them some wins against the lower half of MWC and possibly slow down the the upper half. Nevada hopefully gives him one more season to make strides. However the support football gets at UNR is terrible NIL money is only around 1.5 mil for football is what I heard.
As far as Vegan goes how is his recruiting? I have no clue I know he brought in Jones other than that I have no clue.

I agree with both of your statements but the only reason he ever came back was because he was not successful at the next level. But for the most part it has worked out for everyone concerned.

Exactly. He recruited well and beat the Griz a couple of times. That’s about it.
UNLV has killed the career aspirations of many a coach. There seems to be 'a hole in the desert' for them.

Bobby was very successful at San Diego State. Was the Assistant Head Coach, ST coach, and highly regarded. He came back to UM because he wanted to raise his girls here, live in Missoula, and finish his career at UM. After a year or two, he was offered the head coaching job at San Diego State, with a 7 figure long-term contract. He has been offered by one or more NFL teams to be ST coordinator. He thought about the SDS job, consulted Tim and 2 other friends of his (one of whom is my brother-in-law), and decided to stay at UM. Don't even try to challenge or question me on this because I am 100% certain. I also know Bobby's agent.

I was referring to his 15-49 record at UNLV. Did his agent ever mention that? Thankfully his record is better at Montana or he wouldn’t still be here because nobody would have tolerated that. Like I said in my original post, it seems as though it has worked out for everyone concerned.
Why would it delay him. Eck took his kid with him and he’s starting and excelling at UNM. If veggie’s kids are going to see the field in Bozeman they could as easily see the field in the Mountain West or PAC whatever.
Choates kid stayed at Bozeman when he left. Probably speaks more about Choate than anything, but makes the point that kids don’t always make a coach stick around.

He was relatively successful at UNLV with a winning season and a bowl game appearance @ UNLV 15 years ago--both very uncommon at the time in UNSinCity, which is why he lasted 5 years in Vegas. Bobby's mistake 15 years ago was taking the UNLV job in the first place--should have been more patient and waited for a better MWC or a PAC-12 job to open up since he had been a PAC-12 assistant at 3 different PAC-12 schools under Neuheisel.
Remember, when Bobby was in Las Vegas, Allegiant Stadium 🏟 and The Raiders, Las Vegas version, were just a twinkle in the mayor's eye. !!! The UNLV job is a lot more attractive today in 2025 than it was when Bobby was there 10-15 years ago !!!

A quick search will show that Bobby is the ninth winningest UNLV football coach and the number one winningest Montana football coach. I’ll stand by my earlier comments.
There was a longer than 30 year period where Bobby Hauck was one of only two coaches to have a winning season at UNLV and one of two to get them to a bowl game. UNLV was a famously difficult coaching job. The NIL Era and that new stadium have helped a good bit in their recruiting, but to act like Hauck was somehow a failure at UNLV because of the record there is a bit of a stretch. He was their most successful coach for quite some time, not that it is saying much.

I just said that it may delay him. If the right offer came along he may take it now. I am sure his family will play into any decision he makes one way or another.

I was not comparing his record to the current coaching situation at UNLV. And at no point did I say he was a failure. I clearly said that Montana has proven to be a much better fit.
You're right about the words chose. You said "not successful," and it looks like I put words in your mouth with "failure" and the connotations that comes with it.
