Bobby Hauck

Hauck showed up in 2002 and has kept this program at that level he has done nothing to make it better, he hasn't won more, he hasn't got over the hump. In fact we don't even get the talent across the board that we used to. Even in the really really bad Big Sky conference, Hauck is just a slightly above average HC

No hes a lot like Meyer, they show up at ANY school and instantly make them better. Cignetti actually has talent if you gave that guy Alabama they would win NCs for decades. The difference is Cignetti could win a NC at Indiana and Saban could never do that
Saban made Cignetti and Tim Tebow doesn't agree with your take. Nobody would take Meyer over Saban. you're a wild human.

There are a lot of assumptions in there. But earlier you were criticizing Bobby for not having won a national championship, but Cignetti gets a pass for.... reasons?

If you are arguing that Cignetti did better with his programs than other coaches, couldn't you say the same about Bobby with the results of the coaches in between his tenures?

If you are arguing that it isn't all about a national title, but that Cignetti is a great coach because he makes everywhere he coaches better, wouldn't that also apply to Hauck? He was the first coach to have a winning season at UNLV in 15 years, and got them to their only bowl game in 15 years. After he left, they wouldn't have another winning season for 10 more years. When he came back to the Griz, the team had missed the playoffs for 2 years and was no longer even ranked. The Griz had two seasons below .500 within the last decade. Hauck came back and took the Griz back to the playoffs, back to the national title game, and this year is undefeated.

Do you think you may be selectively applying subjective opinions based on your feelings about Bobby, rather than making an objective, apples to apples comparison?

You have made the site immeasurably more stupid since you started posting. How many times are you going to say the same stupid things over and over again?
Where do these moronic posters come from? I've never seen so many dumb comments by one person who constantly just spew stupid shit over and over. This Andrew guy sounds like he was a former player of Hauck who didn't play and blames Hauck everyday of his miserable life for why he sucked as a player. Not to mention, spewing all this Hauck nonsense in the midst of an undefeated season is the dumbest thing I've ever read.

No

After more thought on the topic, I think I was misplaced trying to compare the landscape of the FBS to the FCS. Bobby is the best guy for this place. You are absolutely correct that you can't measure a good coach just on NC's alone. Hell, there's only 3 in the current FBS with a NC and there's 13 openings!

The overall economic impact Bobby has brought back to Missoula and the campus has been priceless, and I can appreciate that more than a NC. I can swallow my pride and admit when I am misplaced.
Are you okay or normal? Around here I thought you are supposed to defend your mistakes until you die. And blame people who point out your mistakes for speaking up only because you don’t agree with them. That last “argument” is so lame.

Has Bobby taking this program as far as he can? I have been thinking about this ever since the firing of James Franklin. Bobby has been a very successful coach here at Montana and probably one of the best in FCS history. However, it doesn't feel like we are gaining any momentum to win National Championships. He is going to give us 8-10 wins every year, and every 5 years maybe get to 12 or 13. I am generally curious what others think about how far Bobby can take this football program. He has had 14 years at the helm with 0 National titles and only 1 conference championship since returning. In my opinion Bobby is a very good coach, but not elite. I am sure I will get flamed for this take. I think people are scared of what it looks like without Bobby, but there are a ton of young minds that could take this thing to the next level. Look how young coordinators are getting in major programs and the NFL. Just my opinion.

So he hasn't made them better since his return?

AndrewGrizness is one of the most trash posters on this board offering nothing of value just bitter dribble. At least most of the other Cat trolls admit they are Cat fans. Did the obese prairie cow band and come back as a dumbass Cat fan instead of dumbass Bizon fan?

Andrew, what year did you play for the Griz? When I used to play ball, I always would have 1 or 2 guys on my team who would talk shit about our HC years after we stopped playing. They would bring up the dumbest reasons on why our HC sucked but in reality it was them bitching and moaning like little girls because they didn't get any playing time. And they didn't get any playing time because they flat out sucked and instead of working hard and bettering themselves to get on the field, they would spend that time whining and crying and blaming everyone else for their problems. Kinda sounds a lot like what you're doing. Sounds like you've been done playing for 10-15 years now and can't let go the fact that you didn't play because you just weren't a good player. So you come on here and talk shit about Hauck. None of your points are valid and you continue to just spew word vomit about Hauck who has the team at 9-0. So do us all a favor and shut the F up!

BH is steadily growing the team using multiple approaches. He's surrounding himself with coaches that are attracting players from around the FCS. He is focused on conditioning which is the only way to last through the post season. He is focused on giving his 2nds and 3rds playing time that will pay off when God forbid we have injuries. He's resting the 1sts instead of pushing for huge point spreads. I think he's on a great trajectory and look forward to the years to come.

What a ridiculous and patently untrue statement about a coach whose team is UNDEFEATED 9 games in.

Even if you look historically just since Bobby returned, the ONLY year the team had an "average" season was in 2018 which was Bobby's worst year ever at Montana.

Here's the data to prove it:

Year BSC avg wins/team Griz wins
2024. 6.3 9
2023 5.9 13
2022 5.9 8
2021 6.3 10
2019 6.5 10
2018 6.2 6

If you average out all of Bobby's seasons since his return, he averaged 9.3 wins/ season while the conference as a whole averaged around 6. And recently he's won more games than other programs by a lot. So no, he's not "slightly better than average."

And if we included his first stint, his numbers would only go up!! So you can voice your opinions all you want but the data says otherwise.

(I don't know why this format crunches things together but I cant fix it. Sorry)

I don't believe for a second that he ever played football for the Griz. Just a troll.

Maybe he wanted to play for the Griz during Bobby 1.0 because his family “bleeds maroon and silver” but Bobby Hauck didn’t want him on the team and he is now forever bitter. We had some guys 10 years ago who were mad Bob Stitt cut them when he came in and are always bitter and mad about it. It doesn’t have to be this way though. My friend’s brother wanted to play on the Griz and had connections to Bob Stitt and his staff but they didn’t offer him and he was mad at the time but he went to a school that did offer him, the Wyoming Cowboys and played with Josh Allen and now doesn’t care at all about not being offered by the Griz a decade later.
