Bobby Hauck

Not trolling at all, is fact. If Hauck needs 20 years to win a NC that alone should prove he needs to be replaced. I didn't find out about this site until 2010 and have been reading it until I decided to sign up. Way to many stupid posts that go unchallenged on here. Most of you don't know shit but those people are the loudest.
You have made the site immeasurably more stupid since you started posting. How many times are you going to say the same stupid things over and over again?

Nothing trolling about it. I posed a question to the forum. I think it's a valid question. I also think he is a very good coach and not asking for him to be fired. Do I think he should be a lifer in this job, I do not hold that belief.

I don't know how they are firing on all cylinders yet, but have played good against marginal competition. We still have no idea how good this team is yet. I want to win National Championships. Elite to me is taking the program he inherited and winning a few National Championships.
What does elite look like? What would need to happen for you to put the elite label on BH or any other fcs coach?

Nick Saban took 32 years before he won a national title.

Andy Reid was a head coach in the NFL for 21 years before winning his first Superbowl.

You're just making up a standard of "if they don't win in 20 years, they suck."

You say we will "find out in a month and a half," but nobody on the other side of the discussion is saying that we think Hauck will definitely win a national title this year. It doesn't "prove you right" somehow if he doesn't win a title. Isn't there only one current FCS coach that has a national title under his belt? Winning the championship is the goal for every team, not the bare minimum to be expected of a coach.

It only took Nick 13 years, he started his first head coaching career in Toledo in 1990 and won at LSU in 2003. However, I thought this was a good perspective, especially considering this is Bobby's 14th year. Still right in the wheelhouse!

You're right, thank you for the correction. I rushed it, and just saw the first year he started coaching, not the first head coaching year.

I agree that it is right in the wheelhouse, and I also think that it is tough to use "has won a national championship" as the only measuring stick of a good coach. Curt Cignetti is another good example in this regard, and is in his 14th season as a head coach. People are singing his praises, quite rightfully, and calling him one of the best coaches in the FBS. He has also never won a national title.

After more thought on the topic, I think I was misplaced trying to compare the landscape of the FBS to the FCS. Bobby is the best guy for this place. You are absolutely correct that you can't measure a good coach just on NC's alone. Hell, there's only 3 in the current FBS with a NC and there's 13 openings!

The overall economic impact Bobby has brought back to Missoula and the campus has been priceless, and I can appreciate that more than a NC. I can swallow my pride and admit when I am misplaced.

Hey, I'm wrong about something every day. There is never anything wrong with reconsidering an opinion and coming to a different conclusion. You started an interesting talk, and defended where you were coming from. That's what good discussion is all about.

I think people need to realize how rare national championships are. We had a great era in the 90's and early Aughts, and then when NDSU started having their success and it was as if so many in Montana just assumed that should be us instead of them. But winning a national title every year is the goal, not an expectation or a minimum standard.

I've certainly had moments of frustration over the last 7 years as a fan, but we have the most experienced coaching staff in the FCS and year after year our teams improve throughout the season and are now competitive at the highest level of the FCS. That is a big accomplishment in itself, and even with the caveat of moments of frustration I believe that UM made the perfect hire in bringing Bobby back.

All that said, I'd really love for him to add "National Championship" to his resume after this season. Go Griz

Exactly.

All of those teams should have moved on from those coaches. They are not great coaches. They didnt get better they got better players, thats what got them rings not their ability. The competition came back to the pack and they filled a slot in time. Saban isnt top 5 of all time Meyer is by far a better coach

Define what elite means to you. Without definition “elite” is subjective, it’s one persons perception, certainly not a fact. For example, we can PROVE fatbuffalo is miserable. Facts are he got kicked off bizon boards, isn’t welcome at tailgating, trolls Griz, Cats, Jacks and Hawks boards and lets others live rent free in his head. I’ll try and get a pic of him next time he saunters by the west side of the dome.

Again, only a few active coaches even have a national title. You are saying Cignetti is a bad coach, then?

No hes a lot like Meyer, they show up at ANY school and instantly make them better. Cignetti actually has talent if you gave that guy Alabama they would win NCs for decades. The difference is Cignetti could win a NC at Indiana and Saban could never do that
