MBBALL Happy Opening Day!

I honestly don't see many teams out quicking the GRIZ. Sawyer is the only player without the quicks.

Hicks behind the back pass from the right lane to left corner 3 to Betts was f'n SWEET!

This team is fun! 57 20 at halftime.
They picked up their play very quickly!

Kepley and Aguino went to the floor for lose balls.

Not sure, how much more our main players will be in this game.
It's going to be a fun year.

My only concern is lack of muscle other Sawyer in the paint. I won't be surprised to see more traps as our competition gets better.

Was it just me? It seemed when Chase Henderson came onto the floor the defensive intensity went up.

Well the first 12-13 minutes were pretty hard to watch, but after that they really settled in! They started getting stops, knocking down shots, and had great ball movement. And Money and Sawyer hardly played so that was a plus as well! I think every guy played in the first half except for Jedkins. Really liking Aguino and Hicks. They both look great!

Not sure we learned much about this team but it was a dominating win and fun to see all the new faces. One more tune up Wednesday before the big one on Saturday against Stanford. Also shoutout Idaho for beating the Cougs and the cats keeping it close with the Buffs.

Quickness only works when you have the ball, at least offensively. I do have high hopes for this years team. But the age old issue with the Griz, and the majority of the mid-majors, is the lack of a strong presence inside. We have a plethora of 6’7’/6’8” players but they’re all 210/215 weight wise. What is needed is a 6’10” 260 lb guy inside that’s going to block out our quickness.
Tonight’s game was not a good barometer on just how good we can compete. The upcoming game against Stanford should give us a better valuation of what this team is made of.
Another area of concern, at least on my part, is I do not see a pure 3shooter on this team. Hopefully that will come as the season progresses. My apologies, my memory is not what it used to be to be but remember a couple of years ago we had that transfer from I think Southern Utah that had ice in his veins and you could see he never hesitated to pull the trigger.

What I watched, second half only, was the same thing. I was going to post last night about the pure 3 point shooter. It is a single game against an inferior opponent, so it is certainly possible that someone develops into that. Unfortunately (fortunately???), what I saw was a bunch of athletic dudes that can take it to the hoop.

Travis commented after the game that the Grizzlies are a much better shooting team than they showed...I guess we'll see.
