I’ll start with 2007 the Griz were undefeated and ranked #1 but had to come from behind with a field goal from Helena native and future NFL kicker with the Miami Dolphins and Buffalo Bills, Dan Carpenter to take the lead with 30 seconds remaining. The Griz would ride their undefeated record and #1 ranking all the way to the playoffs that season.
.

What are some of your favorite memories from prior games in this rivalry?

It's remarkable how many NFL guys were on that team. Rewatch the semi against App State and there's like 12 guys combined who played in the League.

Also, that Bagley catch is one of the best I've ever seen, and the video doesn't do it justice.

This is not a rivalry from this side of the equation. They think its a rivalry, the university of montana grizzlies do not consider this a rivalry. Not one bit. Bobby shared a great interaction with Wortham from back in spring in qb club.

10 years ago this was the Griz biggest rival besides MSU. EWU had beaten the Griz something like 5 times in a row.

Literally nobody agrees wiyhin the program that its a rivalry. They had a few good years otherwise in the history of this matchup, its completely one sided. Not even close.

Since 2010 the record is 8-6 in Eastern’s favor, not one sided at all. Prior to 2010 it was pretty one sided but has been a lot more even since.

So what? Its not a rivalry. Its a conference matchup. Eastern had a good little run. They most certainly have not been able to sustain it. Non rivalry.

But that doesn't make it a rivalry. That was Taber's point.
The feeling around the team 10 years ago was definitely that it was a rivalry which was also toward the tail end of Eastern peaking I cannot speak for how the team currently feels. Jordan Canada ahead of his last season for example stated that after Montana State, Eastern was the game he was most looking forward to on the schedule because he had not beaten Eastern in the 3 prior seasons.

We lost to Wofford that year. I was in the student section and remember being stunned when carpenter missed that field goal. Freaking Wofford. I think if we could have won that game we probably would have won a natty that year

You could argue 2007 was the best team talent wise of the Bobby 1.0 era. The 2 guys who had the longest NFL careers of this era, Dan Carpenter and Kroy Biermann were both seniors on the 2007 team. The Wofford loss in the playoffs makes this team be forgotten compared to the ones that went to the national championship game like the 2 following seasons.

The current team doesn't even know who Eastern is.
