2026 Schedule

All of the most difficult Big Sky opponents are on the road based on Eastern beating Idaho this season. I like our odds to win out, get a top 2 seed and make a run to Nashville this season a lot better than next season based on the schedule alone. Next year looks like 1-3 losses in the regular season which will not have home field advantage throughout the playoffs.

The way college football is these days, we have no idea what these teams will look like next season.

Hell, this time last year everyone thought UND was gonna be a cakewalk based on their recent history, and now they're our statement win.

A team like Utah Tech, Southern Utah, or Idaho could pull a Houdini act with transfers, just like we did this last offseason, and become a much stronger team.

Really hoping Oregon State keeps their current coach around. If not, though, it might be an interesting storyline if Vegan ends up there and brings some MSU guys with him.
Didn’t they fire him 2 weeks ago?

Also, an honest question is there anything about the 2026 home slate that will make it worth the money for season tickets? Maybe Idaho? Maybe????

Week 0 conference home opener should be fun especially if it is at night and Idaho at home is always a big game as well but besides that it leaves a lot to be desired.

We lost to UND last year

Is Idaho going back on ESPN2 this year? They like the games in Missoula and none of the other home opponents look interesting from a national perspective.

Here are my thoughts:

- 7 home games and 5 road games with the first 3 games of the year all at home.

- Non-Conference schedule is not bad. 9/5 vs. Drake, 9/12 vs. Utah Tech, and 9/19 @ Oregon State I’d argue is more attractive than Central Washington and Sacred Heart was this year. Drake has made the playoffs the last two years and are in first place again in the PFL. And that was cool of the Big Sky to let us keep Utah Tech in our non-conference schedule so we weren’t scrambling to replace them.

- lol welcome to the Big Sky SUU and UTU. They draw the Montana schools in week one. I thought that was a nice touch by the schedule makers.

- The road schedule is definitely daunting. That 2 game road stretch against OSU and Davis will be tough. The cats to close the year will also be tough. Eastern feels like the only gimme but they always get up for us at home. Plus NAU as well. They’ll be tested on the road next year.

- It does appear at first glance to be an underwhelming home schedule, but as we’ve seen UNC and ISU are improving, so those could end up being interesting if they stay on the right track. Fun to get Idaho at home again. That’s an enjoyable game.

Yes next year appears to be tough, but I say we enjoy the rest of this season before worrying about next season!
