FCS STATS Poll, Oct 27 (Griz #3)

The pollsters treated South Dakota State pretty well actually … they fell into a tie with Montana State for #4. Because of that, the Griz moved up one, but not ahead of Tarleton.
The pollsters punished Jackson State a lot … about as much as I expected.
Presbyterian dropped a lot, but still managed to hang on in the top-25. (In my second thoughts, I figured that might happen.)
The South Dakota loss to higher ranked (#18) Illinois State hurt them more than I expected … they dropped out of the top-25.

I never really expected the pollsters to bump the Griz over Tarleton, but the gap has closed. I find it an amusing coincidence that the kitties and SDSU ended up with exactly the same points.

In the end, as I said, I was not surprised that Presbyterian hung on in the top-25 (by only 8 points, you might have noticed). That led to a minor surprise with South Dakota dropping out … by those same 8 points. As I expected, the pollsters did move SE Louisiana into the top-25, just a bit higher than I guessed

Otherwise, not too many surprises this week.

In terms of seeding, Montana's better route would be MSU wins and we get MSU, that is about all we can control, Root for MSU and then get the cats.

South Dakota would absolutely boat race 11-15 and 20-25.
South Dakota has not been good this year...losing to Lamar, and barely beating Indiana St & UNI is not good. They MIGHT beat (not boatrace) 20-25, but their ranking is pretty accurate IMO. They're just not good this year

So if both Griz and Tarleton win out is there a chance that we jump them after we beat the scats?
And then face Tarleton in the semis in WaGriz?

Just dreamin' I know

Yes there is certainly a chance. A good chance. Yet it is far from a guarantee. The choices of the Selection Committee don’t necessarily follow what seems to be the logical path.
