Jesser is a huge Youtuber that put out a "5 Real and 1 Fake NFL Players" video where a panel tries to sniff out 1 fake NFL player from a lineup of mystery players, and it's worth a watch as a Griz fan.

I won't spoil anything, for anyone that wants to watch the whole thing from the beginning. :)

True. I guess it comes down to how one defines NFL player.

If you go more with the literal definition, he most definitely "played" preseason games (here's a stat page acknowledging he had a "Game Played" with Seattle), practiced, etc. in the NFL. His wiki says he signed with 3 different NFL teams (although his longest tenure with one NFL team was only about 44 days), so I'm assuming he got some kind of compensation from an NFL entity making him a NFL professional player.
