Are Griz fans sitting in any particular section(s) for the PSU game? We’re trying to buy tickets and want to make sure we’re sitting with the good guys.
The game isn't at Hillsboro.Hillboro seats 7,500. Their 3 home games have averaged 1,600
You'll have no problem cozying up to your friends. They are going to be happy to see some visiting fans show up I'm sure.
2025 attendance:
Tarleton 1,900
Northern Arizona 1,600
Weber State 1,500
Sad state of affairs at PSU and I hope they can keep the program.
Why?Sad state of affairs at PSU and I hope they can keep the program.
No fan/student support, isolated from campus with little viable public transit options that don’t take a calendar year to get to the stadium they use, lack of funds, lack of institutional support or care, the list goes on.Why?
Oh I didn't even notice that. That's where they used to play. The game isn't at Hillsboro.
The "why" questioned why you hoped they could keep their program. For me. it's difficult to see what the PSU football program contributes to the BSCNo fan/student support, isolated from campus with little viable public transit options that don’t take a calendar year to get to the stadium they use, lack of funds, lack of institutional support or care, the list goes on.
The reality is that the program is on life support. The only reason it hasn’t been terminated or downgraded back to D2 is that the President of the university is determined to maintain full D1 sports but not pay for them. It doesn’t help that the institution is experiencing a budget crunch and is starting to look at shedding programs and faculty (I know a few professors there and have heard grumblings). They hardly have the time or inclination to invest. It also doesn’t help that well off alums seem to want to donate to UO rather than PSU. It’s rough for the U in P-Town.
“Same as” what? The very few that show up at Hillsboro? Yep, you could hold the game in the student dorm and they still wouldn’t show. The only fans that come are old alumni. I live spitting distance from the Hillsboro stadium and have attended every UM/PSU game played there and it is a bunch old old men (like me) who show up and leave midway through the 3rd quarter to avoid watching the rest of the beat down. PSU is largely a post grad degree school with a whole lot of part time students with near zero school loyalty. Aside of a loss on their record, they appreciate playing in front of a real crowd.Oh I didn't even notice that. That's where they used to play.
Its closer to campus and bigger. Hard to expect any PSU students / fans to show up to Hillsboro 35 mins away for an 0-7 team, I bet the PSU contingent will be about the same at Providence....
reading comprehension is a thing… lol. I think if they had more support and were competitive, it’s a decent size media market that elevates the conference. Using NAU as an example, nobody thinks NAU doesn’t belong. There is no reason why PSU shouldn’t be able to at least match that. The location and market has so much potential. However, as they sit now, PSU contributes embarrassment. They need serious facility investment to get buts in seats. They would be far better served playing at Lincoln High School, whose facilities are WAAAY nicer than Hillsboro stadium, than where they play now. And Providence Park needs to stop being assholes. The "why" questioned why you hoped they could keep their program. For me. it's difficult to see what the PSU football program contributes to the BSC
I remember going to PSU games as a kid at Civic Stadium (now Providence Park) and those crowds were rocking! That game in ‘99 when PSU beat the Griz was wild. Please understand, that was before I went to UM. One of my teammates brothers was on that PSU team. They had fan support. They just pissed away all the fan goodwill by institutionally not caring and committing the cardinal sin of playing bad football right when UO became good.“Same as” what? I mean why else would PSU be a protected opponent over Idaho? It’s PSU. All the sections are Griz sections. For real.
Because Barney is smarter than the BSC and Idaho.I mean why else would PSU be a protected opponent over Idaho?
Last time I attended at Portland, there were more Griz fans than Vikings fans. Are Griz fans sitting in any particular section(s) for the PSU game? We’re trying to buy tickets and want to make sure we’re sitting with the good guys.
They still do play at Hillsboro. This is the only game they have scheduled at the old/new venue.Oh I didn't even notice that. That's where they used to play.
