Instate Recruiting

Lol. You’re detracting from the obvious.

There are good linemen that come from this state every year. They should be a point of emphasis for a team that has struggled with line play. Yet, every year, for the most part they end up at the other school in the state. No, Montana isn’t the only place to get them, but it’s the easiest place for us to find them.
It doesn't seem to be the easiest place. And you really think they can get them from out of state?

Wut? Do you hear yourself?
You think your personal speculation based on a kid’s social media is more reliable than what was actually printed in the news paper.
This tells me more than anything this fool is a cats fan and can’t handle that the Griz got one of their legacy players, while posting over here how awful it is that the Cats get Griz legacy players. I’ve seen it all.

You seem to have the impression I’m against transfers. I’ve never said that.

This is very simple. I see a deficiency. It’s obvious, so obvious that none of you are arguing that it isn’t there, but more that it doesn’t matter. I just can’t understand that mindset. Cause let me tell ya, it mattered last year. It’s going to end up mattering later in the year when they face a line that’s actually good. This should be a championship team, Ah Yat is playing awesome, Wortham is amazing, but the Griz have lost on damn near every good lineman in the state recently. And it is unfortunately, going to matter.
It feels like you are shifting the focus a bit. I understand that you aren't against transfers, my point to you is that it is "either/or." Our goal cannot be to get the best freshmen around the country, the best Montana freshmen, and the best transfers. There are only so many roster spots.

It feels as though the conversation has changed about transfers and out of state players vs in state players. Personally, I hope we bring in a boatload of big transfers to help the line for next year, rather than get the best three Montana linemen and hope they pan out.

The goal isn't to have more Montanans than anyone else, it is to field the best team. I honestly don't think NDSU is laying awake at night and thinking "wow, you know what, we aren't getting enough kids from Montana, we are sure lucky we could create a line like ours without them!"

Geez Louise, guy.
The primary source you are citing IS YOU and you have no clue.
You are citing your own speculation in an attempt to disprove what is printed in black and white.
The kid did not say MSU did not offer. You did. And you made that leap of faith based on your own assumption which is contrary to what a licensed journalist printed.
Do you not realize how crazy that is?
Fucking super crazy

I’ve never said the need is to get the most, but the best. Quite frankly, they bring in far too many mediocre Montana players. The problem is they’re missing on the best.

I strongly disagree with your statement btw. The goal should be to get the best OOS, in state, and transfer players. Ignoring any of those is stupid.

I’ve just never seen anything like it while following recruiting. Are we allowed to question anything, or do we need to ask you for permission on how to do this properly? My deepest apologies Hooked.

I agree. If you have room for 2 safeties, sign the 4 best. I think the roster management will be fine with 2 less lineman.

It is best to leave the recruiting to Hauck and his staff. They know so much about these kids before they offer. I love Montana players. I want them to come here and do well. I also like kids from out-of-state. Our transfers have made a big difference in our team this year. Recruiting in our current position is terribly difficult. The obvious great players go to big schools. Bobby and staff have to find those kids who are under the radar, will develop over time, and/or want to be a Griz. I think recruiting here is so much harder than: Ohio State, Utah, UCLA, Florida, Texas Tech, etc. They get the creme of the crop each year. It is great to see our recruits also being chased by the big teams, but we do not get many of those type of players. If you have noticed lately, the staff is doing a great job recruiting in the midst of a changing recruiting landscape.

Dude, it’s just super weird and somewhat psychotic to claim a player didn’t get an offer from a certain team……when it’s literally written in black and white from Gogola himself in 406 Sports…..you know, the actual journalist who sat down with said player and got that info directly from the player. To question it or deny it seems strange. What’s the angle?

Duh! He's trying to win an argument on the internet! There exists no nobler a cause in the world!

How many NDSU players are from Montana? How many Montana HS kids have offers from NDSU? If Montana was a hotbed of football talent, wouldn't you think NDSU would be recruiting them?

I don't really know if you are misremembering to some degree. We relied heavily on out of state players back then, still, though. We also took on drop down transfers. He also had a reputation for offering in state kids more walk ons than scholarships, and saving scholarships for out of state students a lot of times. I remember that being something that people complained about.

In Bobby 1.0, the Griz had more dominant offensive players, yes. The also were clearly the premier program in Montana and the Cats were pretty garbage. It is a lot easier to get all the talent in the state that way. I also believe that the level of football talent outside of Montana has significantly outpaced the growth of in state player quality. In other states, some kids have options for off season coaching, 7 on 7 tournaments, and camps put on by multiple different sources. Other states are bringing in, and paying for, former NFL players to come coach teams. In Montana, at the single A level, it is most often a teacher that used to play high school football or a little NAIA ball.

With that, I think the staff has acknowledged it and is more than willing to bring in out of state kids. I have said this elsewhere on here, but the team is seeking the bests players, not the most Montana players. After having him for 3 years, I am glad we got Eli instead of the best Montana running back that year. Same with Ah Yat. Same with bringing in transfers like Wortham. Has there even been a player from Montana in the last four years that could successfully play NT in the 3 man front? I believe that Bobby's strategy has evolved a bit, though not as much as people think.

The staff wants to win as much as possible, and having a core of Montana kids is important to that.

Having a core of talented Montana kids on the roster is fine….20-25. Having 50 isn’t fine. Bobby’s recruiting this year is excellent. We enroll students from all over the world, not just Montana kids. Maybe we should limit our enrollment to only Montana kids?

Look up the offensive and defensive lineman from Montana that have been offered by both schools. Look at how many came to UM compared to MSU. There’s your answer.
And the GRIZ kick the bub's ass recruiting the skill positions.

But really, who the fuck cares?? I don't care if players come from Missoula, Miami, or Mars. Once they step on campus, they're a MONTANAN.
