Good:

- came out firing on all cylinders in all phases in that first quarter, jumping out to a 22-0 lead
- Ah Yat looked like one of the best QBs in FCS today going 27-33 for 349 and 5 TDs in the air and ran one in too. Averaged over 10 yards per throw.
- good to see the TEs get involved in the pass game again with some good grabs by Gale and Schaefer. My goodness Schaefer trucked that safety
- awesome to see the defense get 4 sacks
- Drew Deck had two great punt returns averaging 34 per return
- Hunter Peck is getting better and better at this level. Monster day today, had 6 tackles and 2 sacks and 2 TFL
- Wortham doing Wortham things. 7 catches for 132 and 2 TDs. Had another 170 yards of all purpose. He should be in the hunt for a Payton award at this point. Leads FCS in all purpose yards
- awesome to see sophomore Hendrix get his first TD as a Griz
- Ricker jr ran hard. Averaged 9 ypc on his 4 runs
- offense finishing very strong and striking quick twice in 4th Q to put it out of reach
- offense scored TDs on 6 of 9 drives

Bad:

- the defense gave up long, sustained drives for a couple of quarters
- gave up too many 3rd and long and 4th and long
- getting tired of struggling to pick up a 4th and 1. Get under the damn center and power football. Shotgun in 4th and short drives me nuts
- not taking the FG just before the 4th Q to go up 3 scores. Seemed like the smart thing to do there as opposed to turning it over on downs

Ugly:

- trying to run up the middle again and again against a stacked box of 8.

Griz are 7-0 and finding ways to win. Just win baby!

Agree on everything.

I’ll add,
- bad - offensive line

They simply have got to run block better moving forward. We have the best damn running back in the FCS and his talents are being wasted behind an offensive line that couldn’t block my 8 year old daughter’s soccer squad . Less than 200 yards rushing against sacred heart?! unable to get a 1st down on 3rd and 1 and 4th and 1 is just terrible.

I wonder why that best damn running back in FCS wasn't in on either play?

I agree somewhat. Teams are going to have to pick their poison. They stacked the box with 8 to make sure we didn’t rush for 200 yards but that led to 350 in the air. To me, it’s good we can punish teams for stacking the box with the pass game. More than two ways to skin a cat.

Exactly. There’s been a concentrated effort with the last 3 or 4 opponent's to not let Gillman beat them which has lead to Ah Yat being the number 1 qb in the Big Sky and MW being the number 2 receiver. Pick one or the other

Oline needs to improve their run blocking, today it sucked yes I know they stacked the box but when they spread it out it still was nowhere close to getting the big push to open running lanes. I will say the pass blocking was pretty good they gave Kay time to throw the ball, which he did quite well. Coach them up and away we go! Go Griz

I’ll add another one

Bad- 3rd quarter play calling on both sides. On offense all they wanted to do was just run it up the middle repeatedly when it clearly wasn’t working. The pass game was there all day. Throw it a little. On Defense I have no idea what they were calling but we were just getting picked apart repeatedly. The coaches are too slow to adjust sometimes.

I think the defense really missed Solo today

I think you should go look at the play by play for the 2 drives in the 3rd qtr.

GOOD:
-Ahyat balling out
-Sacks and Turnovers on Defense
-Wortham and other Skill players showing out
-Wing not getting hit with another bogus Targetting call

BAD:
-Can't play a complete 4 quarters it seems
-O-Line run blocking and play calling leaves alot to be desired lately, if running up the middle isn't working why not toss plays, off tackle or jet sweeps?

UGLY:
-Being in a dogfight with Sacred Heart in the 3rd quarter

You thought Griz were in a dogfight? I didn’t.

Play calling could have been dictated by the coaches wanting to see how the o line would handle teams stacking the box. They didn’t handle it well! I am concerned about the lack of progression with the run game blocking. There doesn’t seem to be improvement. The opposite is true for pass blocking. The o line better get it figured out. The question for me becomes raw talent and strength training. The new coach doesn’t seem to be the issue. Leaves one to ask about talent.

First, very glad we are 7-0, we have talented players all over the field, and I am still frustrated at watching running backs have first contact at or behind the line of scrimmage. Our o-line must improve get off, pad level, and physicality in the run game. Also we must quit burying our head in combo blocks so we can get scraping linebackers and crashing safeties. Pass protection has been pretty good, much like with the combo blocks our eyes need to find the threat and get to them. Just my two cents. Go Griz!

Bad: Not putting this game away early so that the QB back-ups could play. Personally, if we ever do get in that position this season, I would like to see Flowers get first chance. Jensen is done no matter what after this season and we may lose Flowers to the Portal if he thinks he will never get a chance here.

Good- rotating allot of players to gain experience and keep starters fresh. It’s a long season. - Scoring drives absolute money. - keeping things pretty vanilla. No sense opening the playbook at this point. - Incorporating our tight ends which are an another strength of this team. #87 Olsen was on the field toward the end and #84 trucking that DB was gold.

Needs to Improve- O-line run blocking. Noted several missed assignments and blocks, but there has been some injuries and younger guys stepping up. D-ends playing much better, but if we can get our tackles to demand more from the oppositions line then that will free up D- ends and linebackers to get pressure. - Griz have allot of younger guys rotating in the defensive backfield which often times leaves gaps in coverage. Need to get that corrected.
This Griz team is built to win. Shore up a few critical areas and they could win it all. Go Griz!
