Bobby Hauck

I enjoy engaging with you, as well, and I appreciate your ability to do so without getting personal. Would absolutely love to grab a beer. Heck, UofMman and Titlest keep leading me on about grabbing one at the T&C for some good Griz talk. Maybe you and I need to beat them to it, lol.

You're right, he had not been a head coach before he came here. Totally true. But the logic just doesn't track for me when you say you have been pondering if he can get the team over the hump and naming other guys who have also not achieved that. I guess that was a much less long winded version of my point.
I once went out for a beer with Titlest. It’s the last time I saw him or my wallet.

Man, look around the the landscape of college and the NFL with how many young coaches under 40 have been successful. The game is evolving so much. Colt Anderson would be a name I would bring up. I would also bring up a name like Kyle Sampson who has done very well at Tech and has ties throughout the country being related to the Petrinos.

most posters just wanted to challenge a few point instead of having a conversation about the trajectory of the program. It seems like it really triggers some by the tone of posts.

I am good. It’s crazy how this question is off limits for some reason
It’s not off limits. We are having a discussion. You think there are tons of young coaches who could be better than Bobby Hauck. And I think you are out of your mind. And you can’t name any except for an NAIA head coach.

Colt would laugh at you if you told him he would be a way better Head Coach than Bobby Hauck.

The principal problem with this post, which is at least good because it encourages thinking AB, After Bobby, is there is an assumption that we have to find a messiah from elsewhere when very likely the answer is in house just like our basketball team ( Heathcoate, Brandenburg, Montgomery, Morrill, Taylor, Holst, Krysko, Tinkle, DeCuire ).

When Bobby retires--he's 61--Brent Pease, 61, or Tim Hauck, 58, both very experienced coordinators, one offense, one defense, may want the job. At that time, new GRIZ HC could promote longtime RB Coach and recruiting coordinator Justin Green 💚 to OC with Justin, for example, gaining valuable experience as our OC and if he's successful as our OC, our next head coach following the retirement of Coach Pease or Tim Hauck.

And we have a deep bench--Cal-Poly DC and GRIZ LB Cody Von Appen was just in town last week and his D, as noted by Bobby, stymied our high-powered O the first half. Central Washington OC and former GRIZ great WR Mike Ferriter was back in WA-GRIZ earlier this year, Montana Tech HC Kyle Sampson, a former GRIZ RB, is doing quite well in Butte, GRIZ great safety and assistant Shann Schillnger is HC at UMary in Bismarck, and former GRIZ great LB Brandon Fisher was just in WA-GRIZ last December as Eddie George's DC @ Tennessee State and now holds the same position under Coach George @ Bowling Green 💚 and yes, GRIZ great Colt Anderson is a ST Asst. @ SF in the NFL, and after serving as our secondary coach and/or DC could then possibly step up to become our HC, but he isn't ready right now to become , and I think Colt would be the first one to tell GRIZ Nation that.

Let us not forget, former GRIZ great DB and Don Read OC Mick Dennehy succeeded Don Read, former GRIZ Larry Donovan assit. Joe Glenn succeeded Mick, former GRIZ GA Bobby Hauck succeeded Joe, former Don Read asst. Robin Pflugrad succeeded Bobby, his GRIZ asst. Mick Delaney succeeded Robin after he and Jim were sacrificed by a weak, timid UM President, and after the Pat Kennedy of our football lineage Bob Stitt fell on his face just like Kennedy on the hardcourt, and then to clean up Stitt's mess, we went back again to the then -young GA that began his college coaching career under legendary GRIZ HC "Papa Bear" Don Read, Bobby Hauck.

With apologies to Coach Justin, the grass isn't always " greener" somewhere else !!!

Not very much. That's why I'm on this board--to learn from people like you. But I am a student of patterns. And a pattern I've noticed is that Bobby struggles with teams he should beat more convincingly, and rarely beats the likes of NDSU etc. No NC's in all his years. UM has THE elite facility of FCS, and quite a lot of FBS doesn't compare. I feel he rides the coattails of our facility and town.
You would be too much effort. I will try to keep myself from jumping at you. Thanks for laying out your views, tho.

NDSU has had 4 straight coach's keep the train moving.

If we hired Hauck NDSU would never win another NC

That's the difference. Your guy has had almost a quarter of a century of mediocre results and hadn't really sniffed a ring
Hauck is better than any coach NDSU has ever had.

Good post Billings.

Why are you so upset? You can believe what you want. Frank Solich was getting fired regardless because of the offense he was running. If you think that was a bigger mistake than letting Pelini walk than we have nothing more to discuss.
Awesome, at least you have the sense to shut yourself up.

Never said he would be better. I know Colt, most likely much much better than you.
Did you get his autograph when you were in elementary school? You literally said he should be a name to bring up to replace Hauck, after you said there are tons of young coaches that could bring the program to an even higher level. Sit this one out.
