Thx. About half of the Cat players, I’ve never heard of.

The number of all-conference players the Cats have procured from in-state the past few years says you’re very wrong. Of course the state is not going to produce enough D1 talent to fill UMs needs on a given year, but to ignore the talent the Cats have snagged and developed in the past 4-5 years is telling. We are wiffing - whether that is a product of lazy recruiting or reflects what the university itself offers I don’t know.
Since 2018 they had 19 first or second team all conf players from MT and we had 14. Last year was the outlier for them.

Now do all first or second team conference players, regardless of where they went to high school.

The other thing that probably has to be taken into account is what the in state recruits are going to study in college. A lot of the higher paying jobs right now are in the STEM area and msu has that covered. The thing I've seen is that everything goes in cycles and the Griz with good leadership are growing the University.

Even on here, I have always been a big supporter of yours. I love Skyline sports. So please don't take this as a personal attack, but you are just factually not right here and I have posted it twice before this.

Trevin Gradney was 2nd team all big sky DB. TJ Rausch was 2nd team for special teams. Put some respect on their names, my guy!

Didn’t include ST guys - that give le UM 3 more - Gradney when he was a sophomore, Flink when he was a sophomore and Rausch last year.

Also did not mean to omit Gradney, I added him to the list! He was on my phone notes doc and I just didn’t copy and paste low enough! Gradney is one of my favorite dudes ever, would never dog my guy intentionally!

If the Griz had recruited Griz legacy Rylan Ortt, would the local news have been relentless and run Bobby out of town for running a dirty program after Ortt got suspended for PED’s?
Yes. It would have been all over the news in Missoula. The Kaiman and any "local" press would have covered it extensively. Just like they did when we tried to bring Crews in after what happened with him. Just as they would have if his coaches got DUIs and stuck around, and there would have been a lot more questions about just where, exactly, Housewright was coming from that let him get in a car drunk after a late night with colleagues in an MSU courtesy car.... (which a professor would be fired for doing...)

People can call it a loser's mentality all they want, but the truth is that Bobby Hauck and the Griz get a FAR more critical media spotlight for conduct issues than the neighbors seem to get.

Right on brother. Thank you for adding it. And I mean, obviously I'm going to count ST for this exercise. :ROFLMAO:

Also, is "le UM" a thing we are doing now? Because i kind of like it....

It’s funny. The argument about Bobby used to be “he always goes out and brings in a ton of drop downs”. Now that the portal exists it’s that “he is lazy and uses the portal too much”

So I guess it’s not a shock that the guy that historically used a high number of drop downs his first stint is now using the very much more accessible transfer portal.

It’s also all relative. Despite what many think you cannot compete for national titles with straight roster of Montana kids. Look at the Dakota States rosters for example.

Also Bobby’s first stint. The cats were ass. They’re now very good. So it makes sense that they are now getting kids that historically the Griz would have vacuumed up.

This conversation once again seems like a big nothing burger. All while Hauck continues to make teams that compete for big sky titles and made a chipper run two years ago.

Oh also….news flash. No D1 teams develop kids anymore. They’re all portal hunting. That’s the game. Save for Clemson who refuses to play the portal game and went from a powerhouse to a .500 program.

I look forward to having this exact same conversation next year. As is tradition.

IDK, I think people have it all wrong. I took a very, very, very quick skim over the Griz and Cat rosters from last season and it looks like instate kids isn't the issue. Montana relies too much on California and is getting out recruited hard by the Cats in Texas. Griz coaches need to be better in Texas and keep away from the kids from Cali...

why in the world should the griz stay away from cali kids? cali has a huge population, and lots of good players who could succeed at this level.

Dumbest post of the year.
