FCS STATS Poll, Oct 6 (Griz #4)

The Griz and the kitties did not switch positions like some of us thought they might. Also, Illinois State did stay in the top-10 like I thought they would. The pollsters did punish Rhode Island for their loss to an unranked opponent … even more than I expected. They also did drop Youngstown State out of the top-25.

One pleasant surprise in this poll was that they only dropped NAU one spot after their loss to MSU. I thought a 3-TD loss would hurt them more.

On the other hand, the pollsters crushed Rhode Island even more than I predicted. I honestly don’t have a problem with that.

One slight oddity I see is that South Dakota pummeled Murray State, 49-24, yet lost two spots in the rankings. Not sure about the story there.

The fact that Tarleton is still getting one vote for first place after that performance last weekend is either hilarious or horrific. I'm not entirely sure which.

Well, everyone has pummeled Murray State so probably not that impressive.

True. Still, SD down two spots?

Actually, Murray State is a basketball school. Not wildly successful, but pretty good ... getting ranked in the BBall polls and with fairly regular appearances in the Big Dance. I cannot imagine whatever possessed them to think they could compete in the Missouri Valley Football Conference. But then, I'm equally puzzled as to why the MVFC would let them in.
