Post game presser?

The coach of the football team is absolutely the face of the Grizzlies and the University. Ask people who the President is and then ask who the football coach is. More often than not, they will know the football coach, not the President. (Engstrom was so terrible that he might be the exception). Same with basketball. Coaches are the face of the university and are compensated appropriately for their role. Remember Bobby Petrino at Arkansas in 2012? I don’t remember the President of the universities name. I remember Bobby Petrino though. Nick Saban, yep. President - no. Pete Carroll, yep. President, no. I could go on, but why? The coaches are the face of the universities.
Okay, but to me, the coach is the coach and maybe the face of the football team. I like tough no nonsense coaches who win and treat their players fairly. I couldn’t care less about why players and centers are substituted. I liked the game and how the team found a way to win. A test from a friend on Friday. “Love these guys and the way they prepare. Hope the ball bounces our way a couple times. Go Griz!!”

I haven’t watched much USC ball, do they rotate too? Not sure. But I do know that it is extremely uncommon to rotate centers. If Bobby wants to, he’s the coach and gets to make that decision, but for him to get so upset over a reporter asking about it is unfair when it’s a very uncommon thing to do.

USC football has a center rotation between
starter Kilian O'Connor and Syracuse transfer J'Onre Reed, with the team expecting to evaluate who will be the definitive starter after the initial games. While O'Connor was named the initial starter, Reed is a veteran who has already replaced him in a recent game. Backup options also include true freshman Willi Wascher and redshirt sophomore Micah Banuelos.

Current situation

  • Starters: Kilian O'Connor was named the starting center, but J'Onre Reed, a transfer from Syracuse, has already been playing significant snaps and replaced him in at least one game.
  • Reasoning for rotation: The rotation is expected to continue through at least the first three games to evaluate the best fit for the starting role. O'Connor was initially selected due to his consistency during preseason camp.“

So there’s another team that does it, but it’s still an extremely uncommon thing to do. Im still of the opinion that asking him about it is justifiable. Especially if it’s not in a pejorative way. If there’s a genuine editorial curiosity regarding a unique coaching decision I don’t see why he shouldn’t just give a straight forward answer. You disagree, which is fine. We’ll have to agree to disagree on the appropriateness of his response

That’s the beauty of being a fan. We all have opinions. Egriz gives us the opportunity to express them. The day everyone agrees on Egriz - he’ll froze over. One thing I completely agree with. I liked the game and how the team found a way to win. People bitching about getting the win doesn’t make sense to me. Idaho State will give other teams problems.

No, my source said it was not unique. “"While rare, rotating centers is not unique in college football, and it does happen.” why does Frank keep asking the question? Why ask that question after such a great game? It was a stupid thing to ask then. The head of the missoulian and head of the UM journalism dept should tell Frank to stop asking the question.
unique and rare are synonyms of each other. look at the synonyms under unique: https://www.google.com/search?q=uni...4B-EKwgcIMC4xLjEwLjXIB1g&sclient=gws-wiz-serp

Even though the most vocal egrizzers seem to disagree with me, I stand by what I said. Bobby looks and acts like a petulant child far too often. It's not a good look for the university.
He could do better. But so could Frank especially when you know you’re already on Hauck’s shit list.

I don’t necessarily disagree with you, but the Bobby we have now is the same one we had 20 years ago. I don’t think much of anything anyone says or does is going to change who he is and how he reacts in certain situations.

I'm thinking Bobby and Frank have talked about this before and Bobby has told him he won't answer the question multiple times and Frank won't stop asking the question. At some point, Frank has to get it through his thick skull that Bobby's not gonna answer the question and stop poking the Grizzly bear. We all know what happens when you poke a Grizzly one time too many.
what's hauck going to do, go away and pout like he did with the kaimin? anyway, it sounds to me like the reporter is just doing his job, asking pertinent questions about issues the fans are interested in knowing. hauck should get over himself and politely decline to answer. why be so petty?

You're probably right and yet at the same time I think he should be held to account for his actions and words. He's still an employee after all and has a boss to whom he must answer.

THIS. It is very very simple to decline to answer the question, and move on to the next question. He could do so firmly but politely without being a total jerk.

My view is different. Why don't spend time on important questions about the just-completed and exciting game? Why ask a question that has apparently been asked multiple times? Why irritate the guy that you are trying to work with and get answers from? Some people in this thread should toughen up and get over themselves. Most of us don't like to see a bunch of whining. So there.

He's the football coach, to the university. How many people do you think looks at the press conference and looks until the end? 100? More people look at egriz. Egriz is a face of the university. It should behave better.

Yes, at least one other. This year too. It's fairly well known school. Again, ever heard of USC or watched them play?

What you don’t know is Frank has asked him about it multiple times now and has become weirdly fixated on it….so no it wasn’t fair. It was dumb. I’d say really dumb.
I watch a lot of Bobby’s pressers and listen to colters podcasts and I don’t remember that question being asked.

I went back and watched the last 4. press conferences and didn’t hear the question asked at all. Can you point me to where frank has been badgering Bobby with that question?

What I did hear was Bobby being a dick to frank on pretty much every question regardless of the topic. Obviously Bobby has something against Frank and enjoys being a dick to him.
