Griz just beat a very good ISU team

ISU can straight sling the rock. We knew this. They have given up a grand total of one sack all season. They're very underrated.

We have a defense based on pressure with the blitz and man coverage. Down our All American linebacker for a half and our best corner this was always going to be a tough match-up for us. We got the stops when we needed them and in the end Wortham was at his best when his best was needed.

I think we still have big problems with depth on defense but we won't face another QB that good until the playoffs. And our offense is good enough to straight carry us. The fact that we're winning games like this one and North Dakota give me a ton of confidence that this is a true team with a real fight to them.

We're on to Cal Poly. Up with Montana

Cooke is by far the best QB in the Big Sky conference and its not close. Kid drops dimes and reads defenses with ease and has a fast release. For his sake I hope he transfers up and gets a shot at FBS because I feel like he has NFL talent.
Huh? Cooke is mediocre. Has 6 passing TD's and 5 interceptions. Is 54% passing, even after a good day today. He was about 52% coming into the game. He's 9th in the conference in efficiency. He was 61% tonight. Dimes in first half, but not second half. He's not much of a runner. Wood of Idaho is way better. Ah Yat is a way better qb, in my view.

However his wheels are troubling. One time he dove way too early on a failed first down. Another time he had an easy run but tripped on himself. Then that final play it looked like he had an easy 10 yard run for a first...but decided to throw it out of the endzone

I think ISU will be a dangerous team in Conference play for other schools, but at the same time it doesn't change the fact both our O-Line run blocking and our Defense as a whole played poorly. Yes we had key starters out, but regardless doesn't change the fact we have work to do.

Cal Poly runs a similar offense and with Wulf coaching them hopefully our D in particular shows up.

I wouldn’t say ISU is a really good team, but I do think they’re a bad matchup for us under Cody Hawkins. Their style gives us problems and then facing them without 2 of our best players and 2 true freshmen in their first games as Grizzlies makes it that much more difficult. A win is a win and now we head home with time to iron things out.
