Mecca of FCS Football

The Mecca of FCS Football is Missoula, MT and Washington-Grizzly Stadium... hope that helps your cause
Granite, you need to hardin up, the MECCA is where its at.

Side note, i was just wondering who coined the term. Ive heard Riley say it a million times and im trying to remember hearing it before him and i cant. I feel like its been around longer though.

Agree 100% !! Such a stupid unnecessary phony nickname.

It’s WASHINGTON-GRIZZLY STADIUM !!
I will forever appreciate what the Washington family has done for the University as a whole, and especially for making the MECCA possible.

I kind of hate a Montana team playing at "Washington" Grizzly Stadium, though. Ever since I was little, it has just felt odd to me. I mostly just call it WaGriz Stadium.

Was at the game last Saturday in The NEZ with 27,000 fellow hootin', hollerin', screaming GRIZ fans plus a handful of Idaho faithful. " The Mecca of FCS" football needs to grow in phases--our beloved stadium is bursting at the seams !!! A good place to start would likely be to just finish the Majestic Plaza-East Side expansion and add the other 1,500 seats by adding the seats at the ends on both the north and south side of the Majestic Plaza-East Side. That would take us up to 26,700 official capacity, 28,500 unofficial based on last week's Idaho game. I think this needs to happen ASAP because we are already there, we could obviously aleeay fill the proposed new official capacity of 26,700 !!!

And then maybe in another 3-5 years, duplicate on the West Side the Majestic Plaza-East Side expansion, complete with new, technologically advanced, modern press and coaching boxes, adding another 3,000 seats, taking our official capacity up to just below 30,000 @ 29,700, unofficially at least 31,500.

Finally, another 3-5 years-10 years beyond that, we could--if possible from a design and engineering standpoint--replicate the 2003 NEZ expansion in the SEZ, taking our official seating capacity up to 37,000-38,000.

As with the 2003 NEZ expansion and the 2009 Majestic Plaza-East Side expansion, the plans, design, and actual construction would have to be carefully coordinated so WA-GRIZ is ready to roll with the addition by late August, early September of the following year so we can open the stadium 🏟 without missing a beat for our first home game of the new season.

The next project will be new press boxes and several new expanded levels of private suites on the west side.
