Upset Guesses, Sept 27

This week we have only one ranked-vs- ranked matchup outside the Big Sky. However, we do have some out-of-conference games to get a last measure of how teams in different conferences stack up. (For those new to this little game, I do not include Big Sky games … for reasons I’ve discussed in the past.)

As usual in the past, the team on the left is the underdog that might pull off the upset.

You are allowed only one choices, but you can change your vote later if you want to.

I could see NDSU relaxing on USD and getting burned, even though that is not them usually, I just feel they are ripe for an upset.
I think ACU is a little too high up there right now and UIW has some urgency now, even though they ae not what was advertised, they take that one.
Penn is not a challenge for Lehigh and I am not saying the Mountain Hawks are all that, they are the benefactor of the eastern bias and are overrated because they won a playoff game over a CAA team that should not have been in the 2024 playoffs.
Rhode Island can play with Western Michigan, but they won't be as close as Idaho was to SJSU a week ago against a lower talent team in the lowest talent FBS conference.
William & Mary would win their game if it was at Williamsburg, but Villanova won't lose this one, which will be enough for the eastern bias to put them back up to about #15 next week.

And the drama continues. Penn scored to make it 27-30 in favor of Lehigh, Oops, Lehigh scored again so they now lead 37-27 with just over 7 min left in the game. Wild and crazy stuff.

So far no upsets, although the W&M– Villanova within a TD with plenty of time left.

I figured NDSU woould win, but I really thought the game would be closer: 51-13, with Bison letting off on the gas later in the game.

UIW looks like they will win, but I don't really call that an upset. They can still win the SLC. The announcers are horrible on this game. They said this game has national playoff implications for one thing and could affect a lot of the bracketing, but if the score holds and they are both 2-3, how much effect is that going to have nationally. They will both be on the bubble if they are not automatic bids. If ACU comes back, I would say that UIW needs to win the southland or they can forget it.

NDSU did let up. USD is just terrible. Sucks what happened to them.
