Yeah that tends to happen when the economy is stagnant or bad. I have followed this trend since I was on ASUM. It has stayed true.

Where did you get that 50%? From what I see it is higher:

So, pretty much 50%, and in the bottom half or third of the country, depending on metric.
That's honestly understandable, though, and I don't hold it against the neighbors. Our Montana school accept practically everyone who applies, so of course there will be drop offs as the years go by.
No doubt. My friend's wife drives one. Kind of a "point A to point B" thing, though. A semi-popular means to an end. That's MSU.

UM is at 48%. The 6 year graduation rate is 48%, falling in the bottom 40% while the 4-year graduation rate is 33% placing it in the bottom 35%.
The retention rates are very similar with MSU a 76% and UM at 75%.

Just going by the 2024 source website both Elrod and myself used.and referenced in the post. What is your source? If that is the number then that is good. Both schools have been improving and that is a good thing.

Going from experience, when the Debs from Edina, Wayzata and others high end burbs in the upper Midwest, who come to Bozo to ski, flunk out in the spring and daddy pulls the plug, there always seems to be a next year's crop. Good for enrollment numbers and out of state cash, but still just a one year post secondary day care in Bozo. Fortunately they all give it up for the boys and float the Bubs enrollment #'s.
