FCS COACHES POLL KITTY SURPRISE

No chance against SIU. The Salukis are battle tested and extremely proven.
Battle tested? They beat Thomas More, not too much of a test. They got doubled up by Purdue, not exactly a powerhouse there. They won over UTM 37-10 who everyone is beatin' up. The QB seems pretty decent, but I don't see the battle test they've had. It doesn't appear that SEMO is much of a challenge this year either.

Most of these coaches who vote haven't seen all of the games-if any. UND is a top ten team in the FCS. They will beat one of the top two teams this season. They'd definitely beat the Kitties.
i think their qb needs to improve his accuracy for them to reach their potential, and really be a top ten team. against the griz, even when pressure from the rush was limited, he threw some balls that were way off target. not sure of his season stats, though, maybe the griz game was an anomaly for him?

He was 37/59 (63%) in the other two games, including 23/38 (60.5%) against FBS Kansas State.

We never got a sack, but I believe we pressured him and hit him more than he was in the other two games, and he seemed pretty determined to get rid of the ball without taking a sack against us.

As for the overall argument about UND here, I think they have the talent to finish in the top 3 of the MVFC, but I don't think they'll beat both NDSU and SDSU. I wouldn't be shocked if they lost to both of them. That doesn't make them a bad team by any stretch, however.

And UND isn’t? They should have beat what many thought would be a Big12 contender with one of the better conference QBs. And then they damn near came into the toughest environment in FCS and got a win.
Shoulda coulda woulda...almost only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades.

We've seen the fraud K-State is this year...when you start collecting moral victories you sound like a 'Scats fan...

This is why I was cheering so hard for them to win that K-State game (which they honestly should have). It would've helped us immensely in our SoS. Almost winning got people talking about them, but that's about it, and now they're 1-2 and probably looking at 8-4 best case.

Great teams don't give up 2 late leads when they're in the driver's seat both times.

Spot on!

And the way they lost both games is more telling. A 10 play 81 yard drive by K-State capped by a 6 yard TD. Then our 7 play 67 yard game winner.

They had less time left on their final possession with K-State, but the result was the same, turn over on downs to victory formation.

My response was in regard to if ND was “battle tested” or not. They’ve played two tough games on the road. Both of which many are saying they should have won.

What is your definition of battle tested?

Battle tested is not that you beat Portland State 50-20. It is that you held off K-State 35-31 or Montana 23-17 when the chips were down. We have all, most likely, almost done something along the way in our lives, particularly those of us that are a bit older. The Grizzlies almost beat Villanova, Georgia Southern and James Madison for national championships, for example. They won against Marshall and Furman with teams that were BATTLE TESTED. The others just came up short.
To those of us that are true Montana 'til we die, every team can be dear to us, but 95 and 01 in the end were the ones will always stand out the most. And let's not forget the 69 and 70 teams that just came up short.
In my definition of battle tested, UND is a good team that is currently in the category of an also ran.
