Wildcat play calls

As we continue to see more Wildcat formation with Wortham at QB, I would assume we will see a pass call or two before long so that defenses cannot just stack the box against the run. Wortham is more than capable to throw the ball around.
Go Griz!

Bobby and Pease are keeping the play calling pretty vanilla. You're right, it's gonna happen eventually. Also, there'll be some fly sweeps and more flat screens. There's really no reason to open up the play book this early.

I’m mixed with that thought process. Yes, it’s always great to have something in the bag to use come conference play, but at what point do you go from just practicing plays to seeing how they will work in live game action?
I also believe it makes opposing teams have to prepare for much more space when they have seen Wortham at full throttle.
Excited to see our potential with the Wildcat!

Run the true option with Wortham as the QB and Gilman, Fonoti/Jones, and Rocker as the Full House backfield.

Bobby and Peases whole playback is vanilla. Feel like the only time it wasn't was with CM

If I had the kind of talent the coaches have with this team I would reach deep into the playbook, mix it up, confuse the other team that studied the previous two games and stun the opponent. Yeah...I would do that.

It was a very similar playbook. They just don't have the luxury of a QB that can pick up 6-10 yards at will on a designed QB run, or whenever a pass playcall breaks down.

They've never really opened up the playbook early in the year. They have a history of keeping things close to the vest until a late season ranked opponent, the Cats or the playoffs present themselves... my guess is that they don't want too much film on their tendencies ...

but if you play a bunch of close to the vest plays without the non close to the vest your close to the vest plays become your tendencies.
