The ND board

The Grand Forks paper mentioned the TD called back for illegal touching. Refs said the TE was covered up by a WR, the article implied their staff said he stepped back off the line and the line judge or whoever missed it. We couldn't figure out the call from our angle at WaGriz and haven't seen the replay. If the WR wasn't in the backfield wouldn't that be a penalty for an illegal formation , ergo only 3 in the backfield?

Short side story that explains the judgement of some North Dakotans….I lived in Duluth MN for a short period of my life and became a fan of the UMD hockey team. I miss crushing beers at the Duluth Curling Club between periods. Anyways, their rival is UND and there fans travel well. Unfortunately, they were kicking our butts and it wasn’t that close of a game. One of the UND players demonstrates the biggest flop I’ve ever seen and Duluth gets a 5 minute major penalty for it. I yell at the refs and get a bit dramatic myself, probably one too many beverages at the curling club. One of their fans says something along the lines of “Don’t be so insensitive, he was seizing on the ice.”….the player got up quickly and was skating moments later, might I add. We had a few exchanged words, but I was aside myself that he actually said that.🤦‍♂️

The relevance? These fans have some questionable judgement. The center of the universe is North Dakota and they literally have nothing better to do. It’s my least favorite state, respectfully speaking. I’ve spent way too much damn time driving in that state and my mental health deteriorates. I do spend some time on Pembina County annually, always enjoy it until I want to get the hell out.

Speaking of having nothing better to do…My wife and newborn son must be proud of me for sharing this story with my family of strangers on the internet at 4am. Love these night shifts! Hope y’all enjoy your victory weekend!

Cheers to you. Reading it on a night shift.

I hear you about ND--as a 4-5 year old kid when we moved from Mont. to. MInneapolis ( Fridley, Anoka), I thought to myself as I saw ND for the first time, " Thiis place is flat, boring and ugly !!! "

As an adult, I realized I what I was thinking as a little kid still held true--On I-94 driving across ND, west to east, ND was at least somewhat scenic from the border to Medora. Once you're east of Medora and the badlands. flat, boring, monotonous !!!

At least the NoDaks have or at least had a sense of humor when driving along I 94, driving east to west, the state had billboards :

" North Dakota Mountain Removal project now complete "

" Custer was still alive when he left North Dakota ! "

Well, not sure what to expect from them? They just lost a heart breaker. Had we lost we probably are bitching more about their QBs acting job on the late hit penalty or complaining that Loud cost us the game. We’re a pretty delusional group.
Looking at the game thread, I would say the griping would have been all griz focused. Even with a win there’s a lot for this team to improve on to hit their full potential.

I haven't rewatched yet, but two things make me think the staff is wrong:

1. It was clear the TE didn't have a defender assigned to him, which would never be the case if he were eligible.

2. He was patting his chest as he came off the field as if to say "my bad".

You can have as many on the line as you want. No backfield requirement.

Having lived in Minnesota for the last 25+ years, I can attest that UND hockey fans are insufferable. I'm not sure how much overlap there is between their hockey fans and their football fans but there is obviously some. I guess when they almost beat K-State and destroyed Portland State, the fans thought they had a football team that wouldn't lose to the Griz. I still think they will contend for the MVFC conference title.

Until you hit the NoDak - Minnesota border. The first time I made the trip from Montana to Minnesota without seeing Minnesota and as I was driving across North Dakota, I said to myself, what the hell did I get myself into by leaving Montana for this god forsaken land as flat as a pancake with no trees for miles and with roads straight as an arrow. Thankfully Minnesota is nothing like NoDak in terms of land and trees.

😂😂😂😂

They’re actually claiming they got screwed by the refs, and they point to the horse collar call, which was the dictionary definition of the rule.

I mean, I have nothing but respect for the program, but their fans are embarrassing themselves with that shit. Cmon man. Be better.
That call was legit 20 feet in front of me. And it was clear as day. The thing is that the kid didn’t have to do it either. He was making the tackle and then reached up last minute. To add effort force to the tackle. It was dumb. He had the play made already.

I wonder if he lined up wrong or one of the receivers did.

They have a very good team. This game would have been viewed as a major stepping stone for their program on the rise. And they nearly had it. I’m not surprised that they are pissed about it.

The fans that I interacted with from and were super nice people and had nothing but good things to say about their time in Missoula.

Or, I wonder if the play was set up that way. To cover the receiver or TE, and then have the outside one step back slightly at last moment? I'd love to see the tape. I think the ref dropped the flag fairly quickly, but didn't actually see that.

On the 4th and 12 with 1:51 left in the game, KAY scrambled to his left and looked like he was going to run. #22 from UND left Gale wide open and entered no-man's land. Gale did the right thing to get open and KAY hit him with a great pass. That's probably the only bad play #22 made all game and it cost them the game.

#22 was outstanding all game. I thought he was their best player, but no doubt he made a very bad decision at the worst time in the game.

I always liked the two foot pile of dirt in the field with a sign on top that said tallest place in ND
