Good Bad Ugly - Central Wash

Good: Bobby kept it pretty vanilla. Not too many wrinkles in there. Felt like thevteam grew throughout the game.
The adjustments at halftime and the team's energy for the second half.
Running game.
Best secondary we've had in a while.
Team speed is incredible.
Bad: Poor tackling to start out.
The misdirection play that bites us on the ass.
Ugly: The refereeing. I don't mind the calls, but when refs are inconsistent and don't throw the flag for the same infraction later, it's irritating.
The uniforms looked like old road uniforms. 30 years since the '95 championship. I would have liked to have seen the copper and gold as a tribute. The players didn't let it bother them though.

I agree completely. We need a complete re-vamp next season. Monte coming out on the lift was pretty badass though.
This is why I get pissed when people say they don't like the DJ. They're trying new stuff and then people around here bitch about it anytime they do try something new. I personally like the DJ, I like how Ace Sauerwein emcees the on field contests they have, I like that they did something different with Monte (and hopefully that continues). Things like that need to stick to keep things fresh and new while also not getting rid of some of the things we do love.

It's about having a player like Gubner who dents the o-line on every play. They're in trouble unless they step up big time.
I don't agree that they are in trouble. The DE's are good or very good, including the transfers from Carroll. The nose guys looked fine so far. Yes, everyone knows Gubner was great and we'd be better with him at nose. It was the first game in a fairly complicated defensive scheme that requires considerable coordination. These guys need time to learn the D better and work with each other. There is alot of talent in the linebackers. They need to learn to play better too, and they surely will. The DL is in trouble. What a dumb comment.

My concern with the DL is that they got almost no push. RB's weren't touched until they were at/past the LOS many times. I specifically watched the NT on many/most plays to see if there was any improvement (as this was part of last year's problem) and to be honest, I didn't see much. Again, it's only a one-game sample set, but without that pressure from the DT and DE's, it's gonna require leaving our corners out on islands a LOT because 1 or more LB's will have to be blitzing almost every play...1 sack and 5 TFL's doesn't excite me against a D2 team...

Concern is different from "trouble". Bobby said Ferriter had drawn up a good plan, and it took advantage of us in the run game, especially in first half. I saw some of what you saw, but there was push at times end not at other times. I think our corners, and safeties overall, are faster and quicker, and will be better, at man coverage this year. they say that that's what they like to play. In the Griz D, the pressure often comes from the backers. We shall see. Looks like a challenging game coming up.

Couldn't agree more, couple that with the number of missed tackles they seem to have a lot to clean up.
Again to your point ... one game sample!

I really don't care for the DJ and I voiced my opinion on the matter.
I was enjoying the game and then the DJ got his problems fixed and immediately it was music between every play, I personally do not see the need for music every play and right up to and during a kickoff. If they want music during stoppage of play fine, but maybe at least turn it down some.
Yea, I can be a grumpy old man, but I've also boughten season tickets for quite some time, not that that matters to the Athletic and Marketing Depts.

DJ, band, Peter Christian, or Ace, nothing seemed to matter to get that crowd into the game on Saturday. The team wasn’t the only one getting the rust off. That better change on Saturday against the fighting Sioux... I mean hawks.

I rewatched the SELA playoff game from a 2019 a few months ago and I got to say I miss the band playing as much as they used to. It’s just how college football should be. We could learn a lot from the HBCU’s
