Cat game analysis

Man I love reading the takes on this board 1-2 games into the season. :ROFLMAO:
Yes, you should, because your Shi__y 😸 Kitties S U.C K. : ( !!! Gonna be a long 😴 year in Boz Angeles--already is after the Kitty 😺 Massacre in Eugene and their Golden Shower debacle last night in Bozeman : ( !!! )

And I like skimming BN after 2 losses in a row, a loss at home, no run game out of the running backs, not great o-line play, poor ST play, no defense against Oregon (as they scored on 9 straight drives (8 TD's), I believe, some weak play by the secondary, and coaching mistakes.

I especially liked the dumb comment by some Cat poster saying the Cats could/should build their run game out of their 3.5 yards per carry offense. And VIM's dumbass comment on Hauck.

Then we’re both entertained!

Yes, I like to make fun of clueless fans who can find excuses for most everything and believe their team is or will be great and its players are all-world. Some of your brethren seem to believe your team gets better each year because so many of your players go to the Portal.

Now there is a profundity.

For the season, Adam Jones is 31-91 rushing, or 2.9 per carry. Averaging 30 yards per game.

The Cat QB had a great throwing day today. He's now completing just over 75% for the season. 23-26 for 293 and 3 TD's and 1 interception.

Remember how bubz were so convinced Jones was the best RB in the league? He’s currently not even in the top ten. Our backup, Rocker Jr, is way better with one less game.

Which begs the question: does the bub OL suck this year?

And why are they suddenly a passing team?

Seems like their QB will not last and they don’t have the WRs to be a passing team anyhow. Their November road trip to UNC just got more interesting

I might go 3 deep on the GRIZ RB roster before I’d choose a bub

There's still time for Jones and the Cat running backs, as well as their OL, to show more, but I agree, and have been saying since Game 1, that the backs, back running game, and OL were not showing at the level of the Cat hype. They aren't bad, but are they as good as in the past (and with Tommy). The QB must be good and playing well, tho. So, that's a big plus for the Cats.

I think everyone outside of NDSU has a lot of room for growth and can all easily be beaten at this point in the season…..including the cats. I’m really intrigued by 3 teams outside of the Bog Sky and MVFC right now: Tennessee Tech, Austin Peay, and Tarleton.

Some Cat comments from BN. It's good to see some of the Cat fans noticing and saying what I started saying after Game 1.

I miss Tommy.
Bad: Yep.
And the o-line.

Very soft play from the O line in general today!

Ugly: our Offense

Our backs run hard, unfortunately all but Jones don’t have break away speed, in fact aside from Dowler no one has shown elite speed on offense. Our O-Line is not blowing teams off the line this year.

Yeah I hope the coaches get in the o-lines faces after this game, let them know that they’re about to be the end of MSU dominance on the line if they don’t get their **** together.

Bad-
OL play

Bad: inconsistent OL and inconsistent running by Jones (31-91; 2.9 ypc; he’s doing well receiving, blocking).

This is sad to see. I love Jones. I think everyone does. But 2.9 ypc has got to change, especially in contrast to the other RBs. Is he pressing? Sophomore slump? When’s the last time we’ve had a starter average 2.9 ypc? He’s getting more carries than anyone so it’s not like they’re giving up on him.

Lamson is the most accurate passer in the FCS (or he was prior to yesterday, haven’t checked updated stats.). Fact.

O line looked soft!

I’m worried about our offense.

I watched 3/4 of their game yesterday and they were completely unimpressive in all aspects of the game. They just aren't the same without Tommy.

I've told other people this recently, but this year's MSU team seems to me like a less talented version of their 2021 team with Matt McKay under center (before Tommy took over). Still pretty good, and may figure it out eventually, but not quite the level they've come to expect over the last 5-6 years.

Maybe the Griz can beat the cats so bad that Lamson will quit the game too.
