Cat game analysis

Only reason bubz were able to make it to OT was because of their short field goal posts which caused the rabbits FG to be called no good.
Any other stadium with regular sized goal posts, and that’s called good and there would have been no OT necessary.

bubz = short posts; short field; always come up short vs good teams; short man disease.

Bobcats had several players who were injured. They aren’t the same team as last year and it isn’t even close. Neither is SDSU. Both have a lot of work to do if they are going to compete for a natty. Bobcat QB is a good player and is confident. Bobcat secondary is terrible. They will get torched by a good team. SDSU is not a great team at this point. Maybe #5 or #6. Bobcats lost at home. Another big game and another loss with a record crowd. That’s problematic. Bobcat O line is suspect. I don’t think they are something to fear like years gone by. Their running game is nowhere near as potent as previous years. Their QB should also work on ball security.

Yeah he looked the part again yesterday. He is a good back. Adam Jones wasn’t nearly as potent without Tommy or Humphrey. I cannot remember the other backs name. Possibly Davis? Too lazy to go on to the Cats site. He didn’t exactly light it up yesterday either. Like you mentioned - their O line isn’t stellar.

I’ve said for a looooong time….you don’t lose a Payton award winning qb and replace him and not take a step backwards. Mellott quite literally was responsible for 99.9% of making that offense go and making that run game go. It will be different and less effective this year.

Do you think Brent Vigen stayed a year too long and should have left when Tommy left Bozeman even if it meant going down the Choate path of a FBS coordinator position instead of another head coaching position?
For his sake I believe he should have. His stock was probably the highest it was ever going to be. With both coordinators leaving, having him back for some consistency was critical in retaining a lot of players. The team would be complete dog shit if he left. The depth that many cats fans beat their chests about is not nearly as good as they would have you think. I was at many practices this fall and saw it with my own eyes. Vigen likes to put the cats in the same conversation as the DSU schools. He will never get them there until he admits they clearly are not and that he has to be better. Not tossing shade at MSU…just being honest.

Just saw the NFL’s first virtual measurement.

Maybe someday the bubcatz can lose a home OT game via a virtual walk off measurement.

That would be neat.

I think it is a case of Oregon looks THAT good! They have the best team that money can buy. They spent multi-millions building this team. There is no FCS team that would go into to Autzen and not get blown away, including NDSU.

The Cats came off that blow out and played SDSU even. As Hoops pointed out the multiple key mistakes lost the game for the Cats not the talent level. They have a couple of easy games now to clean that up for going into conference play.
Both teams did nothing BUT make mistakes. Honestly, neither team deserved to win that POS. Should have ended in a 0-0 tie. But then of course you'd call it a national championship so....

I was going to say I was very unimpressed by both teams. The way the poles will react is predictable:

Both teams look like shit in a 17/18 matchup= “Both teams have a lot of work to do”.

Both teams look like shit in a 2/3 matchup= “What a heavyweight slugfest! It’s a shame one team had to lose.”

He was on his way out and passed on opportunities at other schools until he drug his feet too long on the wazzu job. By all intents and purposes he was out of Bozeman and told his team as such until Wazzu changed their mind and said we can’t wait two weeks in the world of the transfer portal or we won’t have a team.

I also think tho, if the cats had their o line from any of the last 3-4 years, they win last night easy.

Man I love reading the takes on this board 1-2 games into the season. :ROFLMAO:

Watch the game again. Both teams were pretty stale and really sloppy. If the cats don’t get that fucked up punt turned touchdown….they score 10 points (0 in the second half) at home. That’s dog shit bud! Your offense couldn’t even kick a field goal in the second half of a big time ballgame at home.

Oregon has a national championship caliber squad, so throw that one away.

If that’s the bobcat offense this year….you guys definitely aren’t done losing ball games.
