Coaches Poll

IMO, I think you can have a pre-season poll, but the first official poll should not come out until after, say, week 3. Give teams a few games to show who they are and progress from there.
At the end of the day, the only purpose for polls is the same as injury reports. They are there to help set odds and the TV networks have found a way to hype games more. They are ultimately a snap shot of the opinions of the voters at that moment in time and making a big deal out of them doesn't mean much to anything but ratings for ESPN.
I posted the computer poll to show just how ridiculous things can get, but that is a real poll that I regularly track. Because it is a computer poll, it will eventually make some sense by the end of the year, but once an Ivy League leader is established, for example, that one tends to hold them in higher regard than they should be, but thankfully, this year we will expose them for what they are for all their prior claims to greatness when they didn't have to show up to prove it.

Again, in the coaches poll, this is the case.
In the media poll, we went up 1, villanova stayed at 13.
The point here is these are just polls. There is a lot of bias by region and many other things in polls and you can't just look at one of them, you really need to look at several.

Here is maybe the most biased east leaning, south loving poll you can find that actually lists Montana at #52

If you believe that, you are probably a fan of Holy Cross, Lehigh, Villanova or Furman, (or all of them) lets say. The point is, you can't judge what is going on with any of the polls and the ones that list the voters where you can break down by the individual show how biased they actually are.

Polls mean nothing, it comes down to the old Al Davis philosophy on taking care of business, "just win baby win."

Every Griz fan should love that one, and yet It's about as believable as the ones that put the Griz at number 10 or below, which is to say not very... It's all just conjecture and personal feelings (or wacky computer models) at this point.
I really like this one, it now gives me three unique polls to use with all my friends...the skeptics, the optimists and of course the Bobcat fans! You can guess which one I'll use with the Cat fans...
