Idaho has been propped up by the NCAA, and others over the years, after it left the BSC. They left FCS because Boise State left the FCS. Idaho couldn't fill the paltry number of seats it had(16,000) so they tried to relocate to Pullman(like anybody there gave a FF about Vandal football). Idaho stooped to giving away, or nearly giving away, tickets to Vandal games. A pathetic mess. Yet, the NCAA looked the other way and ignored its mandated minimum attendance requirements. At one point, they stooped to claiming near capacity attendance(for example, claiming 14,500 when pictures taken showed only about 2/3 seats taken, in that cavernous Kibbie Dome). Why the hell the BSC allowed Idaho back in is a mystery to me. Here's more Google regurgitation:
- Idaho's primary home field is the Kibbie Dome located on their campus in Moscow, Idaho.
- However, for a period from 1999 to 2001, the Idaho Vandals utilized Martin Stadium for their home games. This was done to meet NCAA requirements for Division I-A (now FBS) membership, as the Kibbie Dome's seating capacity at the time (16,000) was too small to satisfy the requirement.
- Since the attendance criteria changed, Idaho has primarily used the Kibbie Dome as their home stadium. Idaho football rejoined the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) in the Big Sky Conference in 2018.
- The Idaho Vandals and Washington State Cougars have a long-standing rivalry known as the "Battle of the Palouse". This football game is often played at Martin Stadium, though the 2003 game was played in Seattle.
- The next scheduled meeting between the two teams at Martin Stadium is on August 30, 2025. This game will mark the beginning of the 2025 season for both teams, under new head coaches.
