Trump’s NIL Executive Order

Why is Trump trying to get involved with NIL? It's not an issue of presidental importance.

Also, laws are not written by executive order, or at least they shouldn't be.
Is this just the first topic you oppose that he has acted on in such a manner?
From a life-long Republican who couldn't cast a vote for anyone on the ballot in '24, this is reason number 272 I made that decision. He's been cranking out stupidity like this since the minute he took the oath for this term and he had his share of them the first time around, just not at the record setting pace he has been on.
The bottom line for me, as a Washington Redskin fan I would like to see the team take that name back. The Blackfeet Nation says it's their Chief that is the logo and they aren't offended by it. I don't care if that is because they are making money off of it, they gave the consent for use. What I don't want to see is for a man that has stacked racist and sexist actions up like cord wood to say that the team has to change the name in order to get money that has been approved to move back to DC.
You are very correct, laws are not written by executive order, but also, they should not be validated by the Supreme Court and forced in either. We have lost the balance of power when the legislative branch is left out of the lawmaking process and eventually, he is going to take action on something that hits home with even his closest supporters if he doesn't stop abusing the power of the office.

This helps but ultimately the NCAA needs the SCORE Act to pass so they can have antitrust exemption. They’re not gonna get that in an EO from Trump. It’s a step in the right direction, but they still need help from congress.

Until there is an anti-trust exemption, the NCAA will continue to lose in court over and over and over.

I’m sorry, I can’t help myself, this is too good not to share.
The new season of SP dropped this week and it’s epic.
Did you know the SP creators got $1.5 billion? With a “B”. And for streaming services only, they didn’t sell it outright. Probably the greatest success story of my generation. Absolute geniuses.

The fact that the Baseketball guys became billionaires just is not something my brain has accepted.

Nothing but grossly incorrect political vitriol.

Salty texas years are the best tears...

Tale your commentary to the correct political thread - it's not hard to find.

This has the teeth of a newborn. The genie is out of the bottle and it isn't going back in without legislative action on the anti-trust component that will pass the sniff test at the supreme court. I just don't see college sports ever being the same. Not that it was pristine before. We just have transparency now.

Truely sorry this was posted in the football thread, but I didn't post it, I just didn't notice where it was. My first reply was to a political question, however, there were no tears involved, but my sincerest apologies to all for not looking at the board to see where it was posted.

It has made me ponder often the past few years about what, for example, a program like SMU would look like if NIL and the transfer portal were in place in the late 70's. Not picking on SMU, they are just the often brand name attached to it.
