What are your predictions for North Dakota’s season and particularly the game in Missoula September 13? They are a former Big Sky Conference rival now with NDSU in the Missouri Valley. They have a new coach and I assume a lot of new players from the portal. Their first game is at Kansas State L Kansas State is a higher end Big 12 team. Portland State W Portland State might be the worst Big Sky team this year, At Montana L the Hawks have gotten blown out on both prior trips to Missoula, Valpo W, Northern Iowa W, Youngstown State W, Southern Illinois W, Indiana State W, things are looking pretty good at this point with a 6-2 record but I think they will go 1-3 over their last 4 games against USD, SDSU, Murray State and NDSU. A 7-5 record out of the Missouri Valley should be good enough to make the playoffs but it will probably be on the road.

They’re gonna lose to SIU. I don’t think UND will be worth a shit this year.
What makes you think they are going to lose to SIU? SIU was not particularly good last year. It seems like the Missouri Valley is top heavy with NDSU, USD and SDSU on top, a second tier with Illinois State and UND then everyone else below them is a long shot to make the playoffs.

UND is horrible on the road. Case in point, in 2022, when UND was 5-3 in MV and 7-5 overall and SIU was 4-4 in MV and 5-6 overall, UND lost to SIU on the road 34-17.

It’ll be interesting to see if this and other things about the prior UND program are still true

I have UND at .500 in conference and for the overall season in 2025.
L at Kansas State, W Portland State, L at Montana, W Valpo, L at UNI, W Youngstown State, W at SIU, W Indiana, L at So Dak, L at No Dak St, W at Murray St, L So Dak St

UNI will be worse than or as bad as SIU this year.

With the difference between how well they play at home and how horrible they play on the road, it's almost like they have listening devices in the opposing team's locker room.
The Griz 2 games in Missoula against UND 2015 which I attended and 2017 were both big ass whoopings. Hopefully this year is the same. I have not heard much about UND this offseason but they could be a sleeping giant for the FCS level being the flagship school in North Dakota.

UND has an astounding 18 returning players on the oline including 4 starters. It appears this unit is likely going to be the strength of their team. There are some interesting incoming transfers from Arizona State, Minnesota and Northern Arizona at the wide receiver position.

Last year, they were playing with only one returning starter on the O-line and a new O-line coach and in the second half of the game against us, (which was their second game of the year), they were almost unstoppable.

They have a better shot at winning the NCAA hockey championship than they do winning the Missouri Valley Conference in football. UND is a hockey skool and football comes a distant 2nd.

Their football program seems stuck in trying to recreate the success they had in D2 while playing in D1. UND spent like the last 15 seasons with their 2 coordinators from the 2001 D2 championship as head coach with not great results.

K-State will hang 50+ on them and sit 1s and 2s for all but a single 2nd half series.

Take the over on the Griz game as well...Griz by 20+.

Do you know anything about UND’s defense this upcoming season? They have multiple 300 pound plus guys up front, while not as experienced as their oline this could be a strength of their team. Their weakness on defense appears to be linebacker but they are changing schemes to 4-2-5 making linebacker depth not as much of an issue. The secondary is going to be the most experienced group on UND’s defense.

Their secondary is returning both starting cornerbacks, a starting safety, a safety who wasn’t starting but got significant playing time and adding an FBS cornerback who starter at Eastern Michigan and was in the rotation at San Diego State.
