Northern Colorado Regular Season Predictions

I'm not really up to speed on what kind of players are on the roster at UNC but Ed Lamb is a smart guy and I suspect they will suprise people.

I like your predictions, with the exception of the L against NAU; I say the Bears come out winners in this one.

Honest question, what do you think of Erik Gibson? Originally an LSU recruit, seems to take 2 years off and then does very well at Mont Pen. Also, how high are you on Costello?

Probably 4-5 wins; I like the roster moves Lamb has done with QB in particular, as we added depth, and same with running backs. Secondary should be a plus, not sure what we have coming back at LB.
Definitely rose-colored glasses predicting 4-5 wins this season.

Gonna be lucky to win more than 2.

Ed Lamb is a good coach, I think the Bears might be sneakily better then this gives them credit for but at the same time it's going to take another year or 2 to improve drastically.
LOL.
EVERY. SINGLE. YEAR. We hear about the "much improved" teams in Greeley and Pokey. And every single year their "good" coaches seem to fail to deliver...I'm not blaming them, because honestly they're both shitholes to try and recruit to, but I'm tired of hearing about how good Hawkins and Lamb are as coaches. Lamb has gone 1-22 in two years at UNC. Yet somehow magically they're gonna win 5 games (according to bigskybear)...I put the over/under at TWO.

Under.

Houston Christian beat McNeese (ranked 22 at the time), Nichols and Northwestern State last year. noco ain't beating them. Thank god for the DII

The best dual threat on the team is Costelli. He doesn't have an elite arm but he does have elite wheels. He sometimes struggles from pocket but is very accurate on the run. He has a better arm than the other running QBs. However, he is injury prone. The key at QB is that Lamb likes Taysom Hill type of QBs. He has said it numerous times on Football 52 podcast. Lamb wants a running QB. The best arm on the team is redshirt freshman Box. He came off practice squad against Portland State and had a good game when they designed the offense to his ability. Gave a lot of us fans hope that UNC might have a future with him. It was one of the better offensive productions last year for total yards, first downs, and balanced offense with both running and passing. Problem with PSU game is the defense loaded the bus at halftime and was on the plane by 4th quarter. Box is a totally different QB than any of the other QBs in the room... big kid with a strong arm - pocket passer. It will be surprising if he stays with Lamb wanting runners. (
) Gibson is a strong runner... so he will be the backup to Costelli. Throws a flat ball and struggles with velocity. But he is the type Lamb is looking for. Lueth is another big kid. Looks like a good athlete. But he throws sidearm which causes a lot of his throws to sail. Both Gibson and Lueth highlight film show a lot of deep throws to speedy receivers... not going to get that separation in Big Sky. (Bear Claw Media did a podcast on the QBs -
) The OL is greatly improved... big strong OL. The four main RBs should be very good in the running game, if they keep opposing teams from stacking the box. They are Price, Johnson (Arizona), Traore (was a DB), and Guinn. The TE room is strong with Clements and Garrison returning and Gibbs was moved over to TE from QB. The offense should be improved no matter who the QB is. BUT... the bigger problem is the Defense. It was not there last year and the QB problem did a good job of redirecting the fact that the defense was bad. If they don't fix the D this year... then it will be another long year for UNC. Just look at the last game where PSU shoved the ball down the D's throat at ease to finish the season. My guess for UNC is tops... 3 wins. Someone will likely mess up like Weber did last year.

I predict the most successful program in town will be the "Sci-Fi Weekend" at the Colorado Model Railroad Museum.

Don’t forget the annual Family Fun Fest (FFF) where kids can make s’mores over the still smoldering 2008 Greeley tire fire.

I fear one of us will be challenged to a loincloth clad Brazilian jiu-jitsu (BJJ) match for our insolence.

QB
Costelli - see comments in original post.
Gibson - not my choice but coaches. He is a very good runner. But an average passer. But he is the closest in the backups to Costelli.

If it were up to the local fans it would be Box. He has the best arm. Big body and an accurate passer in short/intermediate game with velocity that keeps opposing teams from stacking box for RBs. Lots of upside as he is young and is well known in the community which would add butts to the stands. But as stated... Lamb wants running QBs and is willing to give up an arm for his QB run game.

Leuth is not very accurate. Lots of picks in the spring.

RB - toss up
My guess. Price/Johnson (both run with power) then Traore (has good vision and cutting skills)
Guinn is a RB who can fill in at slot or wing if needed. He will be in the top 4 rotation

TE
Garrison and Clements are 1/2 or 2/1. They are top two. With a good passing game both have soft hands and big bodies. But expect to see them more as blocking TEs.
Gibbs moved over from QB and will be the third TE

WR
Munroe then Cheeks. Expect Stout and Menegatti to be 3 or 4. Expect Berry to play a role. But was injured last year so unknown going into fall.

Holy Shit!! Not sure what’s more shocking, two different UNC posters on the board or seeing that UNC had fan podcast😁.
Actually a Grizz fan as well. Usually just watch this board to see what comes up on football... decided to post some things as Lamb is trying to rebuild program. Whether he is successful remains to be seen and his welcome wagon is starting to fade for fans. Unless he fixes the D from last year he is going to have a long road again this year. He has enough tools for the offense to be better than last year... can't say the same thing about D.

Awesome, definitely appreciate other fan bases coming on the board. Thanks for the insight into UNC. Im trying to start a con FFL and I was doing a lot of guessing on ur team’s depth. Looks like I wasn’t too far off though. Looks like Price was my only big miss. Gibson intrigues me with his LSU background and then seemingly taking two years off. I couldn’t find nothing on him for ‘22 and ‘23. He played well enough last year though. Also, it’s Griz with one z. Generally people add the second z cause they don’t know or they think it annoys us.
