Utah Tech fight song

I kept trying to figure out what that song reminded me of. It seemed to be imitating a song I knew I'd heard before, and while the comparison to The Greatest Showman was apropos, it wasn't completely on point (at least for me). So after wracking my brain for a while I remembered hearing the below song at my oldest son's graduation from AIT at Fort Leonard Wood. I think maybe that's the vibe that the media team (or whoever came up with that horrible song for Utah tech) was aiming for, however they fell far short of the mark.

Edited to add: the Utah tech song wouldn't be nearly as bad if they just got some raspy voiced Rockstar dude to sing it. The female voices singing oh oh ohs at the top of their range sounds too much like high school choir and not at all like whatever they were going for.

Sad thing is, they probably had tons of meetings, maybe a song or team contest, and paid tons of money, and this what they settled on. They could have just stolen USC's, reworded it with some St. Georgie shit, and came up with something a lot better. Some guy in the meeting probably said, "think future, ladies and gentlemen. We're gonna set a new precedence with this team song...blah, blah. blah, blah, blah." Or they hired a local band told them to go to town. Either way, wow, just amazing.

Are you thinking of something like "I Love Rock and Roll" by Joan Jett and the Blackhearts?
