MBBALL 2025 Big Sky Conference Transfer Tracker

Nice find tgreseth! I’m always weary of JUCO guys, but it looks like he started his career at Cal Baptist, spent 2 years there, then went and balled out at Citrus this year. Very similar to Sawyer’s path to UM. 18ppg and 41% 3pt shooting. If he can translate that to the D1 level, then this will be a hell of a pickup!

I'm guessing this means no Kai Johnson.

Could be but I was thinking this is the spot replacing Patterson. Sharp shooter that comes off the bench. I don’t see Isaak starting. This could definitely mean no Kai though. Wonder if we’ll ever get any actual confirmation on his status.

Also how many spots does this leave us to fill? I’ve lost track of where we are.

Yes I think Isaak is a replacement for Patterson.

By my math:

We have 14 roster slots filled and if you follow past rules, Sawyer's and Pridgen's extra year don't likely count against the real scholarship total. Sort of immaterial at this point because even with the extra potential scholarships, they would run out of scholarships.

Verified Returning (7): Sawyer (GR), Pridgen (GR), Williams (JR), Jedkins (JR), Bradtke (SO), Henderson (SO), Thompson (SO),
HS Newcomers (2): Aguino, Moxon
JC (1): Isaak (JR)
TR (3): Anderson Jr. (SO), Betts (JR), Taylor (SR)
TBD: Dick (WO), Johnson

Montana could have 0-2 roster spots depending upon scenarios.

--2: Connor Dick and Kai Johnson both aren't returning. (highly unlikely)
--1: Connor Dick is returning and Kai Johnson has been informed his extra year application has been denied (more likely).
--1: Kai Johnson is returning and Connor Dick is not (odd scenario)
--0: Both Connor and Kai are returning. (Somewhat likely)

Because of how erratic the NCAA with policy shifts is they are likely going to hold that spot for Johnson or a summer Grad Transfer. There are some real opportunities for so good pickups in that window. Plus, if you are in the portal already, you are in the system until you find a home. The process is just more cumbersome.

Based upon what I am hearing/reading, is that because of the uncertainty surrounding several lawsuits currently is that most schools aren't going to finish their rosters until June/July.

The portal closes today and a bit different than last year, all players regardless of classification (undergrad or grad) are asked to have their name submitted. Probably 90% of the ones that have entered yesterday and today are guys like Hawthorne or Threatt that are looking for an extra year but will need a court decision to free them up.

There are only a few schools that I think are done or are close to being done in the Big Sky. Montana being one, Portland State being another, and likely Weber State.

Sacramento State is got a lot of work to do, still likely has 8-10 roster positions to fill. They seem to be in on literally just about every power 4 transfer I've seen lately. Most schools without the advantage of hyper-accurate reporting seem to have 3-5 roster positions left to fill. I think NAU, UNC, and Idaho might have in excess of that, but it is hard to know because I just don't dabble in all the BSC recruiting stuff outside of Montana that much when it comes to HS signings or JC commits.

Of course they are. Everyone at that school is utterly insane.

I think you are absolutely correct in your assessment. Almost all of the entries to the portal over the last few days were players who seemingly had used all of their eligibility. Everything will fall into place after there are some major rulings. It only effects our level because of what scraps may be left over after the P4 free for all. The scraps may be a bit better if the rulings favor those players. If the rulings are against those players, there will be very little left over for anybody in the BSC. Some of our coaches are taking a big risk. It could pay off or it could spell disaster.

Idaho State got a commitment today from Gus Etchison, 5-11 guard from NAIA Marion College. Averaged 23 ppg as a junior, played 6 games this year before being shut down with surgery. Scored 19 against Indiana before his surgery.

This technically fills all 13 scholarships for ISU, although they would undoubtedly make room for Darling if he wanted to come back. Highly unlikely at this point.
