Pro Day 2025

My point is Cliff could have come and absolutely nothing would have happened. Zero chance the scouts say, "dude showed up - we have to leave."

Nope.
The school told him no based on what the NFL said.

Clearly the NFL holds some power in this that you're unaware of, regardless of your personal feelings about them.

Could you or I have gone and participated if we just wanted to enough? If not, why not?

This is brilliant! Is there a category for beer-in-hand 40 yard dash?

Training starts tonight!

See you next April in Missoula, 1122

ESPN today said pro days are worthless. They said if you cannot figure out what players you want you should not be in business.

If allowed by BH - yes. It's a public facility where the NFL has zero authority.

But, I can assure you the scouts would not be impressed with my 40 time.

NFL has zero authority on the facility but have influence on NFL teams and would not be happy if NFL team employed scouts took part in a college run pro day that went against an NFL decision. UM/Bobby is not going to risk future relationships with NFL/NFL teams and go against their decision nor should they.

I think BH's relationship with NFL teams is irrelevant. NFL drafts talent - regardless of said relationship.

Here is a scenario:

Dion Sanders invites a dozen players from HBCUs across the nation to work out at Colorado's pro day. QB son - a top 5 pick this year is going to throw. Several players on their defense are 3rd round or higher locks. These are players that didn't work out at the combine - because there is very little upside to doing so.

None of those HBCU players has Colorado roots in any way. What does the NFL have to say about this?

You think scouts don't shown up to that pro day?

Pro Days are one of the way teams figure out who they want. Show us the ESPN link. I don't believe you, or some nut said that.
You go find it I hear it on an ESPN talk show. I have NEVER once lied on this site. Is that your new modus operandi now? Calling someone a liar because you A) don't like the person or B) because you don't like the truth.

Find it yourself. You posted the comment. That's why I don't believe you. Can't backup what you say.

If you get your information from ESPN talk shows, it explains a lot.

"Grebe ... flew to Florida immediately after the FCS national championship game to begin the ramp up for pro day. He trained at the X3 Performance & Physical Therapy facility alongside 50 other prospects, including ex-Montana receiver/returner Junior Bergen. Grebe roomed with Bergen, whom he holds "a lot of respect for," sharing memories and trash talk with his former rival."

Bergen to Mariani (pro day):

5'9".4, 184. 6'.88, 190

4.52 4.48. 40

36.5 vertical. 36.5

10' broad jump 10'3"

7 - L. 6.83 3-cone. Are they the same drill?

4.42 pro shuttle. 4.23 20 yd shuttle. Don't know if they are same drill.

Pro days certainly matter - they are worth a good amount of money for SOME players.

The combine matters for SOME as well.

SOME players need neither of them.
