Spring ball?

As Spring Ball progresses I visualize #8 Keali'i Ah Yat being the Griz starter in 2025 due to his natural talents and past experience on the field as a QB for the Griz. I see a playoff between #16 Jake Jensen and #17 Luke Flowers. I feel Jake is more mature than Luke as he is married, his age and a bit of playing/lots of practicing on a major FBS FB team. Luke is a 3 star prospect by 247 Sports. My guess is that Jake will make fewer mistakes at QB when playing while Luke will have some freshman question marks.

So IMO - QB #1 AY, QB #2 Jensen and QB #3 Flowers.

I am arm chairing this. Do those frequent posters more knowledgeable at FB think I am way off?

Note: I have not been to any practices and relying on what I read and various podcasts.

Due to recent advancements by the NCAA (lol), I am not sure a single a kid on the U of M roster will even be on the team next fall. Notice I didn't say, enrolled at the school as that hasn't been a requirement for a quite a while. That being said; enjoy Missoula Paddleheads football next fall (I have fond memories of both the stadium and the campus).

Somebody get Sask a drink, he's teetering over the edge.

Reading all the posts, hoping for some great insights but got some minimal updates, and basically the same boring people debating the same boring topics! If this was a party, all the alcohol was obliterated and everything cleaned up already!

Unfortunately like most things in life, if you want something done right, you gotta do it yourself.

You clearly have never been to Canada. We're just getting warmed up! LOL Seriously though, a country who's religion is free-market capitalism (it was never any version of Christianity so calm down), college football is now a market economy. We might have the dollars, we might not.
free-market capitalism is the best economic system except the U.S. doesn't have a free-market economy. NIL might be the closest thing to a free-market and even that is under pressure to change.

Spirited scrimmage, of sorts, today.

Defense had a few takeaways, I believe I counted 2 picks and 1 fumble recovery. A handful of TFLs as well. A few names stepping up on defense making plays, Wilson, Optiz, Mason, Boyd, Rausch. I think the 2025 is going to have far better balance of depth from 1st team to 2nd team. That should help on ST and in rotations to help keep our main dudes more fresh. Liking what I'm seeing from many of our transfers too, Tolbert, Wolfe, Harper.

Offense was a little choppy but Sliter had himself a day when rotating/splitting reps with Flowers. Two deep shot TDs and then a nice slant TD to Gurnsey in a short goal to go situation. Young guys now working in far more reps as camp goes on, we know what we have in many of the upperclassmen - need to see where the younger guys are at. Talen Reynolds looks and runs a lot like his dad did.

Morrison has added some awesome strength to his leg, he smashes kicks.

It’s not a competition by any means. It’s clear Ah Yat has the starting position already wrapped. Jensen and Flowers are different players but neither of them are stepping into the clear backup. It’s more of the same from backup QBs of the past. Interesting decision making, inconsistent accuracy, at times, flashes of brilliance. If you are willing to struggle through all the chaos, there will be some benefit but a Griz team probably can’t afford that.

Let’s hope that Bobby’s confidence in AhYat will be rewarded this year.

Two QB’s with some experience waiting to break out and become the guy. That’s what the Griz have. Nothing more, nothing less. Time is an interesting thing with college athletes. It takes the young guys a few years to get comfortable. I think this year is a solid one for KA. He knows the system and he has matured. He will be a fine QB.

Thanks for the update. It's appreciated. Which of those guys are DL and which are LB and did any of the guys pop?

I want to believe that you are correct as far as KA. I also agree with your time statement and a point well said. This year will be the time for KA to make it so. IMO Jensen will be a backup and used when needed.
