MBBALL March Madness Tickets

Usually the fans for the second game of the session that are sitting in the allotted seats will start showing up in the second half of the first game. Last year when I went to Spokane, the evening session was Bama-Charleston followed by St. Mary's-Grand Canyon. With about 12-10 minutes to go in the Bama game, the GCU fans quite literally poured into the arena at the same time like they had all gotten off a bus together. By the time they got in, Charleston was still hanging around with Bama and the GCU fans started making noise every time Charleston would make a run and it was keeping them in it before Bama pulled away late.

Point being, if the Griz are in striking distance midway through the second half, that's likely when a lot of the BYU fans will start showing up and if the Griz can go on a run and stay in it, the BYU fans will start getting loud sensing blood in the water. The crowd can be huge in terms of helping an underdog pull the upset. All the casual fans in the arena who have no rooting interest on either side love seeing the underdogs pull it off. If the game is close, the crowd will be on the Griz side. Yes there will be a lot of Wisconsin fans there tomorrow, but plenty of Griz and casual fans will be there and if they can sense an upset brewing, they will be on the Griz side tomorrow!

In my experience the large fan bases like Michigan and Wisconsin and Texas A&M will have a ton of people attend all sessions. Because their teams have high aspirations they like seeing how the tourney is playing out.

Also having two Big10 basketball rivals. They will watch each others games closely.

I remember Salt Lake one year, I wanna say early 2000's we got just that. 16 seed Jackson State faced #1 overall Arizona. For starters, JSU's band was maybe the best I've ever seen. They had the entire arena in it everytime they got to play. The team was up late in the first half and the crowd was electric wanting to see history. Of course Arizona went on like a 20-0 run to end that hope. But you're absolutely right that the arena will support the underdog if it's close. I can promise you that if the Griz are in striking distance in the 2nd half you'll have the support of about 95% of the arena

95% is a bit generous. Wisconsin is the largest school in the session. 70% of the arena supporting the Griz would probably be more accurate

Based on the many times I've been I think you might be thinking way more fans of one specific team are there. The schools will sell out their allotment. Then obviously some additional fans. But a huge portion of the fans that attend the first rounds are just hoops fans.

I've been to several tournies with Kentucky. No fanbase travels as well as theirs. And they were great. But was still just a small group compared to the rest of the fans. If the Griz keep it close, that place will be nearly all Griz fans. If this isn't the case it'd be the first time I've seen in attending 15-20 of them.

There are like 5 Wisconsin Badgers bars in Denver. Lots of their alumni or people just associated with Wisconsin move out here.

The other thing to remember is tickets for this tourney have been on sale for like 6 months. The 8 teams get theirs. But all other tickets for this tournament could have been bought months ago. And many are. I can think of about 10 buddies myself who have had tickets for their families forever, without caring who was playing. Not to mention all the businesses and sponsors that already have tickets as well. The actual fanbases of the teams that end up playing make up a small portion of the crowd. That's what makes it so fun. An underdog has the ability to gain a lot of fans, if only for a short time

These ticket offices are giving me the run around on when to expect these tickets. Ball Arena says to contact GrizTix GrizTix says to contact Ball Arena

Same, except the ticket office told me to contact ticketmaster.. annoying. Couldn't even confirm what sections the allotment were in after we blindly bought "GA" tickets. There's no way anyone would get stuck in the upper bowl right?

I hope not since upper bowl tix have dropped to $60 on the resale market and they cost $166

my thoughts exactly
Apparently Texas A&M already got their allotted tickets spread between 2 lower level and 1 upper level section. I am not sure if the Griz would only have the 2 lower levels from being a small school or if 1 upper level section is included in our allotment. I have not heard from any other fan base in Denver where their allotted tickets are.

Every school is going to be given the same amount. Sure, Montana can probably return some of their allotment unsold. Looks like there are only 5 tickets left from Griztix which makes me think some people will be stuck in the nosebleeds.

It does appear that way. Pretty unfair to charge $166 for upper level. It does appear that the upper level section is smaller than both of the lower level sections but it is in the corner so the view will be about as bad as it can get.

Savvy fans from large schools would have bought tickets from the smaller schools allotment. Easier to compete against the 2k Griz fans that might have bought tickets vs. the 20k Badger fans that were clogging their site.
