Botched the men's mvp. Impossible to award a player on a sub.500 team the mvp. Has to go to the best player on either griz or unc. Got it right on the women's side.

Griz get only 1 on first team??

Yeah, that kinda blew my mind. Had to go through the list twice. Not even a honorable mention? Hope it lights a fire in him for the tournament!
Absolutely!! He has had some time to heal up this week, I bet he's closish to 100% too. Watch for a big tourney out of him. Seems to be a big game player, and he'll no doubt have a chip on his shoulder 💪💪

Yeah.

I think what ultimately “hurt” the Griz is their outstanding ball distribution on offense. Nobody really had eye popping numbers.

I can see the argument for Darling being - he was pretty much Idaho States whole offense. You take him away, they’re probably even worse record-wise.

I don’t agree with it, but I imagine that was a big influence in the decision making / voting.

I know very few people anround the BSC arguing about Darling being MVP.. but get on Griz board, and of course, salty cuz he’s flat out better than anyone on their roster. I’d relish a matchup with Montana on a neutral floor.

Why does that matter? Dillon Jones was on the 5th best team last year and he was clearly the best player in the league. Darling deserved the award as did a couple others but this notion that the player of the year has to be from one of the top 2 teams is nonsense.

Who was salty? Disappointed sure - especially with how the award has been traditionally awarded.

I dunno about “better” but he is certainly better at drawing “contact” when driving to the basket better than anyone else in the big sky.

Overall, good for him and good for ISUs program. Best of luck in the tournament, but not too much luck if you play the Griz!

Maybe you can petition the big sky to play all your road games on neutral courts, because your home to road win loss ratio is abysmal.

He's a great player. 1st team, newcomer of the year. MVP should be the best player on the best team, period. Or at least top 2 teams. Bengals are 5 games out of first.

Darling vs Montana: 46 points, 12 assists, 9 rebounds. I think that says it all.

Of course he also led the conference in scoring, assists and steals in Big Sky only games.

And ISU had a winning record, both overall and in conference. Pretty hard to argue with any of that.
Don't forget he also let the league in whining. So while ISU didn't lead the league in winning, take away an N and add an H and he had it in spades! Lol

It is not called the BPBT award it is the MVP. Big difference. Who from Montana should have received it? We have a GREAT TEAM, but nobody stands out as the MVP.

Langston reynolds at UNC, pridgen for UM. UM isn't winning the conference without joe pridgen. Unc isn't winning the conference without Langston reynolds.

Yes, ISU doesn't finish barely above .500 and in 4th place without Darling, but so what? Doesn't diminish his season, he's definitely 1st team all conference. ISU dominated individual awards. Mvp, newcomer, and freshman of the year. 4th place team. Makes no sense
