Lessons from Super Bowl LIX

Players and coaches doing to many commercials and running around in the off season. Lost their focus. Success has gone to their heads. This embarrassment may be just the thing to refocus their efforts.

Original hyperbole aside, that commercial, media and marketing obligations could interfere with the focus needed for a professional athlete is not really far fetched in some cases.

The Chiefs have been to 7 straight AFC Championships (six at Arrowhead) and have played in five of the last six SBs. The only two they didn't get to they lost in OT in the AFCG. Oh, and by even making the SB this season they accomplished something never been done in NFL history.

To suggest they lack focus is -- pardon my French -- fucking ridiculous.

Seems as though you are implying, in saying the two picks Mahomes threw right to the defender cannot be blamed on lack of focus in that game, were thrown with intention, which I just can't buy. Face it, the Chiefs layed an egg just like the Griz to NAU two years back. It happens. Lack of prep, lack of intensity, lack of immediacy, are all shades of a lack of focus. All things which can be corrected.

Yes but sometimes a team just plays bad. Or the other team plays better. For a plethora of reasons.

EG's point seems spot on. The Chiefs have absolutely dominated the league for 7 years. So while I guess it's plausible they just lacked focus for the first time in forever, I'm of the belief that they just laid an egg. Which happens in sports.

Why does the loss have to be the Chiefs' fault? Could it be Philadelphia had a superior game plan, executed it better, had superior performance from their players, had fewer turnovers, fewer penalties, etc.?
And they have the most talented roster in NFL. Added some incredible free agents and nailed it in draft.

Agreed. And the Eagles had a strong and dominant game, and the Chiefs and Mahomes didn't play very well. Had they played better, they would still have lost. At least that day.
At least the game would have been more entertaining if they had played a bit better. It was a snoozer.

Snoozer for some folks, but I loved every second of the beat down delivered to the arrogant Chiefs. Their O line got smoked without any blitz. Wonder what insurance company is gonna sign Mahomes up now?

That's what I said at the beginning of this thread and how it relates to the Griz.
For the Griz to RTD and win the Natty we need DOLA.
Bigger Stronger OL. It all starts in the trenches

I just periodically tuned in to see what was happening. It was plain KC was not in the game. Reruns of Gomer Pyle or whatever were the rule of the day. There was only one pro-level team on the field that day, and they earned it.

Philadelphia is 1 of the youngest teams in the league. Most their key defensive players are locked in for the next 4 years.
Howie Rossman is the best GM in the league. Jeff Stoutland is best OL coach in the league. Fangio is likely at his last stop and from PA. Kevin Patullo is going to emerge as a commodity the next few years.

I like Philadelphia's chances to win another 1 or 2 Championships the next 5 years.

I wish the NFL would have presented a collection of iconic guitar solos (Gilmour, Trucks, Satriani, Bonamassa, etc.) for the halftime show. You know, Super Bowl LIX.
I dug this years show. Really liked how Kenny and the production company kinda made it feel like a music video. Very cool vibe. Im a big Kenny Lamar fan too though. Like most musical genres today, rap has gotten really watered down with a lot of crap but he is very unique sound that elevates him.
