Rostad is a new one. That would be pretty big loss and looking like that whole safety group is completely remade.

They mentioned that they expected all of the incoming transfer safeties to be playing major time.
And they all appear to have big time potential.
I’m excited for the group they’re bringing in. They all appear to be bigger and stronger than our previous groups of transfers. Lots of guys with lots of experience.
At least on paper, I would say it is our best foray into the portal world. We should be stronger and deeper at the defensive end position with our portal additions. Hoping our 300 pound DT transfer can get some significant reps and swallow up some blockers.
For sure it’s exciting getting new additions. Not sure yet if it’s an upgrade until you see them in this defense. This defense is good when they have had safeties experienced in this 3-3-5 scheme. That’s a ton of overturn in that group. I’m more wait and see on new transfers and I would say we may not be done there looking for guys.

Unfortunately correct. Stories were that he had decided to hang it up. I don't know if that bad injury he had was something that is sticking with him.

Being a Doc, you've been in and around some very bright people your entire life, I would assume.
In my work history, I've worked with, or around, people with the brain power equivalent of a two Watt Bulb. When I was just out of high school, I worked around one Vietnam Era combat vet that was so f'd up that NOBODY wanted to be anywhere near him, at any time. And there's the occasional Cretin, and a few eGriz posters, but I don't want to be redundant.
I give the coaching staff credit for getting the best they can, but Luca Brasi ain't gonna put a gun to recruits heads for them to sign on. They either get the best, or what they are left with. We are still suffering from the events of 2012. I figured it would take a generation to recover from that time.

On paper, this team will be better than last years. Will they be? Who knows, but I think upgraded some areas and replaced some key losses. Six months of weights and maybe a couple more transfers after spring ball and they will be going into the season with a sneaky good (not scary good) team so if develop and stay healthy going to be in the running for a conference championship.
It has been mentioned on eGriz at least in the last month, and I've definitely heard it talked about.
Edit -- That wasn't meant to be flippant. I was just giving you the answer. I first learned it here, I'm pretty sure.

I'm pretty sure (as Elrod posted above) that it was mentioned on egriz a month or so back as a possibility. I think that is what HHB was trying to get to.Just wondering the source of HHBs information, as 'common knowledge.'

I also had heard about several of these departures in personal conversations while in Missoula during or right after the season. Nothing about these conversations made it seem like a secret, and had heard similar things during multiple different conversations. My only point was that even if not known widely, it was known rather publicly.
