Sac St

I could be wrong, but without conference affiliation, none of their hoops, softball, baseball, soccer or volleyball teams will be eligible for auto-bids into NCAA tournaments. It’s at-large seeds or nothing.
I don't believe this decision would mean they wouldn't have a conference affiliation outside of football.

They'd probably try to join the WCC or something like that for all other sports. The WCC only pays out $400,000 to member schools for their new tv deal. This would be a major gamble on Sac State's part if they decided to do that. I'd love to get their AD behind closed doors and ask him if he actually thinks Sac State is ready for a move up. I tend to think he'd say not right now.

What I am hearing is there are several Conferences they are having discussions for all non-football sports, including the BSC.

I had kind of wondered if the Big Sky would hang onto them for everything else because the problem is if you cut them loose then you're down to 9 full time members and it would completely screw up the travel partners and the road trips. We would be fine with 11 Football members but we'd have to add another full time member and there aren't that many good D2 options out there. Then you'd have to turn your attention to like a Cal Baptist or a Utah Valley or maybe even a Denver or somebody who doesn't play Football.

I have talked with Dr. Wood personally about this move multiple times. It's happening, and it's happening for the '26 season based on what he's said. He originally was insistent that SAC would go to the Pac-X, but now it's looking like 2-3 seasons of an Indy schedule with an agreement from the Pac to accept us as full members when the new stadium is completed. In the interim, it's looking like all Olympic sports might have a temporary (permanent?) home in the Big West.

Dr. Wood was present for meetings with the Pac-12 last week, and with NCAA President Charlie Baker (likely to try for a 1-year transition to FBS waiver).

Does that really seem like a good idea? Being an Indy in Football is miserable and you may or may not get a conference invite later down the road. Feels like a massive gamble IMO.

Looks like HHH can't figure out something new to post. This discussion has been going on for a year. HHH really needs to get out of the basement and get yourself a life.
