Sounds like he is showing up at high school work outs in Minnesota in the middle of winter. I'm not sure how much more happy I could be about that. Much needed.
I'm not sure height is the most important thing, especially in our scheme and in the way football is going. To put my cards on the table, I love having big, bruising, downhill linemen. To me, that is how I understood football to be played the most effective and dominant way. We are seeing that the modern game isn't requiring big, tall linemen anymore and I'm having to accept that I'm just wrong about it. Average NFL Lineman was like 6'4" last time I looked. Journey Grimsrud would have been our best returning lineman, and he was 6'3. Brandon Casey was 6'5". Forbes was 6'2", and he was amazing for us.I am becoming concerned. For the 26 Class he has already offered three that are less than 6'6". And how many more that we do not know about?
Geographically, Missoula is interesting with Seattle actually closer to Missoula than Eastern Montana ( Miles City, Glendive, Baker , Sidney, etc.), and Minneapolis-St Paul 1,200 miles to the east. Obviously, with our O line recruits coming in from Washington, Coach Pawlak has been seeing a lot of country and kids. Given his years in Iowa City and Grand Forks, it sounds like he has a lot of coaching contacts in the Upper Midwest--good for him, good for us !!!I'm not sure height is the most important thing, especially in our scheme and in the way football is going. Also, if it does make you feel better, we added some real size in the class of 2025, so he does value it. We added these high schoolers --
OL- Kaikoa Kanakaole 6'5" 330 (St Louis HS) Honolulu, HI (3 Star)
OL- Lincoln Hoefer 6'5" 250 (Meridian HS) Bellingham, WA (3 Star)
OL- Quinlan Hyatt 6'7" 270 (West Valley HS) Spokane, WA (3 Star)
OL- Ezra Meyer 6'5" 250 (Big Sky HS) Missoula, MT
I think he is on a really good track, and while I don't pretend to be an expert in Oline play, people who know a lot more than me tell me that he is in the weight room with these guys, they are buying in, and that he is a hell of a line coach. I'm putting my faith in Pawlak
Absolutely! Those relationships matter quite a bit, and I was just excited to see us working out there. It seemed like we had a good expansion into Texas when Bradford was here, and I think that we have seen that stay alive to some degree. This might be a real benefit of bringing successful coaches into the Montana coaching tree.Geographically, Missoula is interesting with Seattle actually closer to Missoula than Eastern Montana ( Miles City, Glendive, Baker , Sidney, etc.), and Minneapolis-St Paul 1,200 miles to the east. Overall talent, work ethic and execution are more important than height measurables any day.I am becoming concerned. For the 26 Class he has already offered three that are less than 6'6". And how many more that we do not know about?
Appreciate you out here doing the Lord’s work, Elrod, but I think MrG’s post was in jest.I'm not sure height is the most important thing, especially in our scheme and in the way football is going. That's what she said.Overall talent, work ethic and execution are more important than height measurables any day.
okay, so you're just saying everyone is at the same ability in their profession? and that some people don't put more time and effort into their jobs than others? That’s his job.
Are you trolling?I am becoming concerned. For the 26 Class he has already offered three that are less than 6'6". And how many more that we do not know about?
I'm really bad at tone online, both reading and writing, lol.Appreciate you out here doing the Lord’s work, Elrod, but I think MrG’s post was in jest.
So who is not doing their job ? Every coach on staff should be out recruiting. Is that the case with the Griz coaches? For example Belichick has been reported as on the recruiting trail. He's the head coach. I think the recruiting issue has been showing up in the quality of recent teams the Griz have fielded. That’s his job.
You are including the team that played in national championship game a little over 12 months ago as recent correct? So who is not doing their job ? Every coach on staff should be out recruiting. They are. I was going to offer more but 1004 posts in less than 20 days by you says a lot of how uniformed, unconnected, agenda driven, and lazy you are. I do not know who you are but that is my opinion after reading you posts. Put down the alcohol for a month, clear you mind, be objective not subjective (maybe avoid your chior) and actually do your own first hand research of what the coaches are doing. I try really hard to believe YOU are sincere AND NOT a tolling jerk but your posts say other. So who is not doing their job ? Every coach on staff should be out recruiting. Totally. Recruiting is absolutely his job. But there are an awful lot of Big Sky coaches that are not flying to a high school in Minnesota in January to watch a high school offensive lineman work out. I was just trying to highlight that it seems like Pawlak is going above and beyond. That’s his job.
