MBBALL Kai Johnson and Austin Patterson Appreciation Post

Griz are fun group to watch this year! But man I don't think the contribution of these two off the bench can be overstated at this point. Two veteran guys that have played in a ton of games. They are both solid defenders and can rebound. Both can come in and spark the Griz offensively too. They are confident players that are consistent in tight games. These two were just great finds in the portal!

The thing I admire most about this team is when the stars have a bad night (Money and Pridgen), the other guys step up like Moore and Whitney. Johnson and Patty off the bench were great weapons last night as well. The depth of this team is something we haven’t seen from a Griz team in a long time! We have 7 guys that on any given night can average double figures scoring, and that was on full display last night!

That being said, it's concerning when Money puts up a stinker like last night. I mean, the 81% free throw shooter even clanked two VERY important free throws! What was going on with him?

I agree, and his inbounds pass late that allowed NAU to cut it 3 in the closing seconds was also very bad. Good teaching lesson for him. He’s done a good job of coming back from mistakes this year. I expect him to have a nuclear night tomorrow against UNC.

Money is a great player. But he only played a handful of college games last year and it is still early in season. I think Travis is treating him like any other player and sitting him when he needs it. Great to have vets like Pridgen, Johnson, Whit and Patterson with Money. Tomorrow will be a great game!
